Who is Isack Hadjar as Red Bull prospect gets Abu Dhabi GP outing? Age, nationality, stats, and more

Isack Hadjar is one of the next prospects set to come out of the Red Bull Junior Driver Programme, so here is everything you need to know about the rising talent.

The French and Algerian driving talent was signed to the Red Bull Junior Driver Programme in 2015 after impressing Helmut Marko, the team’s head of driver development, with his results in karting and Formula 4.

The first two years of his motorsport career were spent competing in France in karting championships, taking in the CIK-FIA European OK Junior Championship and beating Aston Martin F1 prospect Jak Crawford.

Hadjar would go on to make his debut in French F4 where he achieved a victory at the difficult Spa Francorchamps circuit, finishing seventh overall in the championship in 2019. Another year in French F4 saw him miss out in the title battle by fellow future Red Bull junior Ayumu Iwasa, finishing third on 231 points.

Isack Hadjar gains support from Red Bull after impressing Helmut Marko

Marko made Hadjar a proposition to join Red Bull’s junior programme after he took a pole-victory-fastest lap triple in a Formula Regional race, earning the Austrian’s trust who put him into F1 feeder series Formula 3 in 2022.

Racing with Hietch GP, Hadjar managed to win on debut in Bahrain and take two more race wins and five podium finishes on his way to fourth overall in the series.

Red Bull duly promoted him to Formula 2 in 2023 after a strong F3 season, the main F1 proving ground for prospective talent. In his debut season, Hadjar finished an underwhelming 14th in the Drivers’ Championship, after a single podium at the Red Bull Ring and a series of mixed results throughout the season.

Hadjar switched to Campos Racing for the 2024 season which has yielded better results, achieving four wins and four podiums. With one round left in the championship in Abu Dhabi, the Red Bull junior is only half a point behind championship leader Gabriel Bortoleto.

Bortoleto is on 188.5 points while Hadjar holds 188 points, with the half point for Bortoleto coming from him finishing in a dead heat with Dennis Hauger during the Monza Sprint and the single point was split between them.

Isack Hadjar has already completed practice sessions with Red Bull in F1

Hadjar has racked up a useful amount of F1 practice sessions having previously taken part in Friday practice sessions for Red Bull across both the main team and Visa CashApp RB.

Last year RB allowed Hadjar to replace Daniel Ricciardo during practice for the Mexican GP at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, where he set the 17th quickest time ahead of Alpine’s Jack Doohan and Mercedes’ Frederik Vesti.

Red Bull would later give him outings at Abu Dhabi and earlier this season at Silverstone, where he set the 19th quickest time ahead of RB’s Yuki Tsunoda.

Abu Dhabi will be the fourth time Hadjar has taken part in an official F1 weekend with Red Bull, while he is also expected to take part in the post-season young driver test.
