Lewis Hamilton will embark on his most exciting challenge in F1 in 2025 as a Ferrari driver.
The seven-time champion had spent his entire career with the Mercedes family, dating all the way back to 1998 when he joined the McLaren academy – the German manufacturer were the team’s engine supplier at the time.
In 2025, Hamilton will have to get accustomed to a new engine, new team and a new language as he achieves his lifelong dream of driving for Ferrari. At the age of 40, it will likely be his last adventure in F1.
Despite the daunting challenge of a new environment ahead of him, the Brit has sought to embrace the Ferrari culture. Hamilton addressed his new colleagues in Italian at the Fiorano factory.
Ferrari employees were delighted by Hamilton’s gesture – it was always something that fellow seven-time champion Michael Schumacher was ‘never liked’ for avoiding.
The Brit’s move to Ferrari is not entirely full of unknowns. Hamilton will reunite with Fred Vasseur, whom he worked with during his junior career. The Frenchman guided the 40-year-old to his GP2 title in 2006 before moving to F1.

F1 fans call Fred Vasseur a ‘proud father’ after seeing his latest photo with Lewis Hamilton
Vasseur’s acquisition of Hamilton will no doubt be a proud moment. The smiles from both the team principal and the seven-time champion are clear to see, with many Ferrari fans calling the combination – along with Charles Leclerc – a ‘family.’
Ferrari recently posted on their Instagram account a series of pictures of Vasseur, Hamilton and Leclerc at the factory in Fiorano – the first displaying all three with the rest of the team.
Fans were quick to take to the comments to say how ‘proud’ Vasseur looks about the team he has built, labelling him Hamilton’s ‘father.’
One fan wrote: ‘Vasseur looks so proud’, while another echoed those feelings: ‘Fred, the proud father.’
Keeping with the theme of Vasseur being the father of the team, one fan pointed out how adding Leclerc to the equation makes them: ‘The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.’
Fans also pointed out how elated Hamilton looks to be in Maranello. One said: ‘Sir Lewis looks really happy’, and another wrote: ‘Lewis looks so happy in Ferrari.’
Finally, one lifelong fan posted a touching message: I’ve been a Ferrari fan for as long as I can remember, but this new smiling Lewis gives me years of life. I think the Italian vibes have done their job. Proud to be an Italian granddaughter.

What Ferrari chiefs are expecting Lewis Hamilton to do in 2025
To drive for Ferrari brings immense pressure from the devoted Tifosi – and it is no different for Hamilton. Ferrari fans are demanding the world championship from the 40-year-old.
Hamilton comes to Maranello off the back of a difficult end to his tenure with Mercedes, struggling with inconsistent machinery. He looked constantly dejected with his machine – but he seems to have found a new burst of life in red.

Ferrari expect Hamilton to perform at the Australian Grand Prix and have no doubts that he will get straight up to speed in the SF-25.
Ferrari chiefs expect Hamilton to be their number one driver in 2025 over Leclerc. It will not be an easy feat to beat the Monagasque driver given his experience in Maranello, but the Brit could be a serious competitor.
Hamilton could reach another level at Ferrari if they can provide a winning car. If they do, the 40-year-old could have a great chance of an eighth world title.
