Former Formula 1 driver and Sky Sports reporter Martin Brundle claims that Alex Albon is in “the form of his life.”
The Miami Grand Prix resulted in another double points finish for the Grove outfit. Albon crossed the line in fifth position, and his team-mate Carlos Sainz finished in ninth, bringing in a total of 12 points home for the team.
The Thai-British driver is currently eighth in the drivers’ standings with 30 points, and interestingly, Williams has already accumulated more points in 2025 than they did in the entire 2024 season.
Brundle commented on Albon’s impressive performance in his Sky Sports F1 column. He explained:
“Fifth would fall to Alex Albon with another excellent and feisty race. This means that Williams were the fourth fastest team on the day and had looked much like that all weekend. But for a Safety Car technicality in the Sprint, Albon would have scored another handful of points there too, and he is in the form of his life.”
He went on to analyse Sainz’s race, stating:
“Carlos Sainz in the second Williams had a few adventures and was carrying damage from first lap contact with his team-mate. VSC pit stop timing frustrations would mean that he’d end up behind the two Ferraris, indeed into the side of Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari after a rather ambitious attempt to run up the inside of the man who took his Ferrari drive on the final lap.

“No further action was taken on either driver for the contact, and they were deemed equally at fault for the ‘avoidable contact’.”
Albon was pleased with his fifth-place finish and the pace of FW47 at the Hard Rock Stadium. He explained to the media following the race:
“Had some really good pace, we were struggling with engine temperatures so [it] was just really important to get past Carlos and then we caught up the Mercs,” Albon said about the early stage of the race.
“Honestly, we had really good pace, I was quite comfortable in my position. I would even argue George [Russell] got a little lucky with the VSC, otherwise a P4 was possible today.
“Crazy to say, also just amazing to be able to see the podium – I had George and Max [Verstappen] in my vision, in front of me the whole race without a Safety Car, so yeah that is just testament to the progress we are making at Williams. The track suited up clearly, but very happy.”
The next round of the 2025 F1 season takes the teams to Imola for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on 16-18 May
