Friday recap
FP1: Max Verstappen headlined the opening session over the two Williams drivers, as Charles Leclerc crashed out at Turn 3 to produce a red flag – the survival cell change required forced Leclerc out of FP2. Verstappen’s 1m13.193s was good enough to go fastest.
FP2: George Russell posted a 1m12.123s to top the charts, notably doing so on the medium tyre. He was just 0.123s shy of his pole time from 2024, his time withstanding efforts from Lando Norris and Kimi Antonelli on softs.
Lance Stroll suffered a crash early on, but avoided producing a red flag after parking his car up by a marshals’ post at Turn 10.
