Alex Albon will be looking to push further up the field with Williams in 2025.
The Grove-based outfit managed just 17 points in 2024 with several crashes hampering their season. Albon scored 12 of those points while Franco Colapinto scored the other five in his nine appearances as Logan Sargeant’s replacement.

Heading into 2025, Albon will be paired with Carlos Sainz following his exit from Ferrari. The Spaniard joins Williams off the back of his best season ever with two wins and nine podiums.
Albon and Sainz have already had a huge impact with their work behind the scenes in Grove. Team principal James Vowles is building an exciting project at Williams and his two drivers have the credentials to move the team forward.
Albon wishes for more of his stunning double overtake in Canada last year in 2025. The Thai driver – despite a shaky end to 2024 after Colapinto put him under pressure – displayed some solid performances and pace in the FW46.
The FW47 got its first outing at Silverstone last week ahead of pre-season testing in Bahrain. Albon is hoping it will be an improvement on its predecessor, but he is not happy with how high he has set his targets.

Alex Albon’s ‘dream’ is to score a podium in 2025 – but ‘it’s not a nice goal to have’
Albon has not scored a podium since the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix with Red Bull. The 28-year-old will be hoping to achieve that feat with Williams in the future.
Vowles says Williams have the ‘ingredients’ to score podiums in 2025 – Albon has the same ‘dream’ for this season but also stressed it is the ‘dumb’ answer to the question of his targets.
Speaking with The Fast and the Curious Podcast, the Thai driver says a podium is ‘not a nice goal to have.’ He outlined that improving on Williams’ struggles from 2024 would be a ‘good year.’
“It’s a hard question because of course, being too result-based is a dumb answer because in the end, it moves around. It’s very, not materialistic but it feels that way,” he said.
“As in, who’s to say… of course my dream would be, I want to score a podium this year. It’s not really, well it can happen but it’s not a nice goal to have.
“I honestly think if we can finish this season and feel that we’ve really got on top of a lot of the issues that we had last year; the parts, the overweight side of things, the quality control areas.
“There’s a few big things that we’ve really put a lot of effort into this year. That’s to me what a good year is.”
How Williams are looking to copy Red Bull for the 2026 regulations
Journalist Edd Straw says Williams have already ‘kind of given up’ on their 2025 season – the FW47 not having many changes to the FW46 may prove that.
Gary Anderson was surprised to see so few changes on the 2025 car – but there is a key reason for that. The Grove-based outfit are focusing their attention on the 2026 regulations.
Williams are striving for success in the new era and could be in a good position to fight. Many believe Mercedes will have the fastest engine in 2026 – whom Williams run with.
Albon says Williams will move quickly into the 2026 regulations, taking inspiration from Red Bull. The Milton Keynes-based outfit aced the 2022 regulation change and have been almost unstoppable with Max Verstappen in the ground effect era.
