Apple reveals all-new way to watch “F1” movie trailer for iPhone users

Apple has released an all-new way to watch the trailer for the upcoming F1 movie.

As excitement builds for the release of the F1 movie, which is set to premiere internationally on 25 June and in North America on 27 June, Apple has unveiled a haptic trailer. According to Apple, the new teaser allows fans who watch on a handheld Apple device to “experience the power of the engines, the rumble of the curbs, and the intensity of every gear shift like never before with responsive vibrations.”

To watch the haptic trailer, Apple users with iOS 18.4 or later can watch on the Apple TV app. However, the standard trailer can be seen below.

F1: The Movie

F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, follows the fictional APXGP Formula 1 team. Brad Pitt portrays Sonny Hayes, a veteran driver returning to the sport to help the struggling team fight at the front of the grid. He joins rookie driver Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris.

The film also stars Javier Bardem as Ruben Cervantes, owner of APXGP, Kerry Condon as Kate McKenna, APXGP technical director, and Tobias Menzies as Peter Banning, a member on the board of directors for APXGP. The F1 drivers from the past couple of years will also feature in the film.

In order to make the film as authentic as possible, it was filmed during official F1 race weekends. Seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton also served as an executive producer to ensure it was as close to reality as it possibly could be.

The current drivers had the opportunity to see the film during a private screening ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix. All but Max Verstappen and Lance Stroll attended. Overall, the reactions were positive. Two-time champion Fernando Alonso commented, “I liked the movie. I think it represents Formula 1 quite well, which is never a guarantee in these kinds of movies.

“It is a good thing for our sport, because everyone will [want] to see a Formula 1 race – hopefully – after seeing the movie. It’s not a documentary, it’s still a movie, so there were a couple of [inaccuracies], but I would say that nearly all of the movie, in terms of track action, was very original and very representative, so that was a good thing.”

Haas driver Esteban Ocon also explained, “It was super immersive. The driving scenes were fantastic, and something we’ve never seen before. There were things that didn’t make too much sense for us as drivers being inside the paddock, but I really see where Lewis [Hamilton] has put his touch on it to try and make everything as realistic as possible.

“There were still some parts that needed to be a little bit more Hollywood, which is obviously open for all the public and needs to be catching the eye of everyone.

“For us, there are a few things that I would have liked to be more racing focused and maybe a bit less crashing… but I think overall it’s still by far the best racing movie of all time and it will have a mega success.”
