Formula 1 can be a cut-throat and unforgiving business, with some drivers often getting better luck than others out on track.
Sometimes it can be the luck of the draw when it comes to making moves to teams, with the recent move by Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari garnering a lot of attention.
Hamilton is trying to achieve an eighth world title, however, there are questions over whether his time at the Maranello-based squad will emulate that of Sebastian Vettel or Fernando Alonso.
Peter Windsor thinks Hamilton’s time at Ferrari will be different because he no longer has to prove himself, which puts less pressure on him to perform in the same way as Alonso.
Alonso’s move in 2010 did see him achieve instant success with a win on his debut, but he would later go on to miss out on two chances to win the world championship. Speaking to Soy Motor, Carlos Sainz believes F1 has been unfair to Alonso during his time as a driver.

Carlos Sainz thinks F1 has not been ‘completely fair’ to Fernando Alonso
Alonso made the switch to McLaren when they reunited with Honda in 2015, which became a low-point in his career after he finished largely towards the back of the pack with a bad car and power unit package.
After leaving McLaren to take a three-year sabbatical, Alonso returned to Alpine for two seasons before switching to Aston Martin. Despite early podium success, with eight of them in 2023, last season proved to be difficult for the Spaniard.
Sainz says this does to show how unforgiving F1 can be when it looked like the team was finally on the up after billionaire team owner Lawrence Stroll’s investment.
“It shows you how difficult it is [with current regulations] with Aston Martin,” said Sainz.
“It is a world that as much as it’s not fair sometimes and with Fernando, with that talent [he has] it has not been completely fair, it continues to keep you hooked and it is the sport that entertains us the most.”
Carlos Sainz completes shakedown of 2025 Williams
Preparations for the 2025 season are in full swing now, with Sainz recently taking to the track at Silverstone in the Williams FW47.
This year’s challenger is an evolution of their 2024 car, with it bearing little changes apart from some aesthetic tweaks to their engine cover.
Williams had to run the car in a special camo livery for the test day, due to the agreement between the teams made to present their full 2025 liveries at the upcoming F1 75 launch event.
