Carlos Sainz ‘possible options’ explained amid Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari talk

Lewis Hamilton looks set to become a Ferrari driver for the 2025 Formula One season which has left Carlos Sainz in limbo.

On transfer deadline day in the footballing world, the biggest story has surprisingly emerged from the Formula One world, particularly for Ferrari.

This is the case as it’s been reported across various reliable outlets such as Sky Sports News that Lewis Hamilton is now likely to join Ferrari for the 2025 season and onwards.

This will see the legendary British driver don the infamous red of Scuderia Ferrari, ditching Mercedes after a series of sub-par seasons.

However, while this will be a massive coup for the Scuderia, one man won’t be too happy with the news and that is Carlos Sainz who is set to lose his spot driving for the Italian giants.

How Carlos Sainz is feeling as he looks set to lose his seat with Ferrari

F1 journalist Matthew Thompson has taken to X with an update on how the Spanish driver is taking the news that he’s the one who will make way for Hamilton.

He reports, that the news is a “hard blow for the Sainz family.”

This is something to be expected and he explains why this is the case: “They consider that he’s above Leclerc and believe that the Monegasque is the one who should leave but they know that he’s the spoilt child of Ferrari.”

This is a move which will be tough for the driver to get over, but he could use it as a positive and instead look to build his career elsewhere.

On this front, he’s thought to have a few options.

Where next for Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz?

One thing that is for certain, Sainz has put himself into a position where he’ll have no shortage of suitors

Thompson continued his tweet by mentioning two possible options for the Spaniard. These options are Mercedes and then Audi who are set to join the F1 grid in 2025.

The Audi link is interesting and comes soon after it was reported he could potentially be quitting Ferrari for Sauber ahead of Audi’s entry in 2026.

This could see him racing for Stake in 2025 before the team becomes Audi a year later. Another option could be Williams who have been tipped as a potential destination for the 29-year-old.

An interesting time for driver moves over the next few years.
