Charles Leclerc shares what he’s already found ‘very impressive’ about Lewis Hamilton since joining Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton has been embedding himself within Ferrari for the last two months ahead of the 2025 season, taking part in various tests and media commitments in the red suit.

It is one of the most anticipated storylines of the 2025 season as Hamilton gears up to try and win an eighth world title at one of F1’s most successful teams.

His first race with the team will be at the Australian Grand Prix, a track where he has the most poles out of any current driver and team at eight. It’s a stat that could see Hamilton replicate the feat achieved by Fernando Alonso in 2010, when he won his first race with Ferrari in Bahrain.

Hamilton has taken to life at Ferrari well so far by learning some Italian and taking part in a recent promotional event at Milan, where he was putting on a show for fans.

His teammate Charles Leclerc has been impressed by how well he’s taken to life at Ferrari, outlining one thing that he found ‘very impressive’ when speaking to Sky Sports.

Charles Leclerc says Lewis Hamilton has been on it ‘straight away’

Martin Brundle noted how he has never seen Hamilton smile so much after his move to Ferrari, signifying that it is a move that he feels comfortable with despite leaving Mercedes after 12 years.

Hamilton appeared happy with how well Ferrari’s test went at Bahrain, even though the team looks like it will have work to do to catch the blistering pace of McLaren.

Leclerc has been happy with how quickly Hamilton has got up to speed with the SF-25 and identified its weaknesses after just a handful of tests.

“I think already from the first test that, even if he doesn’t know the car that much, he’s straight away on the limit of it and he challenges it straight away. This is something very impressive,” said Leclerc.

Lewis Hamilton: Being in Ferrari is the most exciting period of my life

Hamilton has been building up his relationship with engineer Ricardo Adami, who also engineered Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz.

The seven-time world champion drew comparisons to his first season with McLaren when speaking to media, and the parallels of that rookie season in 2007.

Hamilton: “I think this is very reminiscient of my first year here. For all those years I’ve gone up and down the paddock and seen the red garage and now I’m actually in it, so it’s a really nice feeling.

“You’re looking at things from a different perspective, which makes it exciting and challenging, this is definitely the most exciting period of my life.”
