It’s now more than 20 years since Christian Horner made his debut in the Formula 1 paddock as Red Bull Racing’s team principal.
David Coulthard made some eerily accurate predictions after Red Bull’s F1 debut and Christian Horner has played a key role in making that happen.
Red Bull have gone on to win six constructors’ championships since their debut in 2005 at the Australian Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel have delivered four drivers’ championships each for the team since their debut and the Dutchman is looking to match Michael Schumacher’s record of five consecutive titles this year.
However, Red Bull’s team structure has changed a lot in the past 12 months.
Adrian Newey is making an impact at Aston Martin, Jonathan Wheatley has taken over as Sauber’s team principal and Rob Marshall has helped mastermind McLaren’s rise to the top of the standings over the past 18 months.
This could lead to Horner potentially wondering whether it’s now time for him to step aside and let Red Bull go in a different direction.
This has led to one of Red Bull’s biggest rivals making an informal inquiry into Horner’s availability.

Ferrari ‘casually inquired’ about Christian Horner’s availability to become team principal
A report from the German outlet Sport Bild has shared more information about Ferrari’s potential interest in Horner.
Team principal Fred Vasseur has had a difficult start to 2025 with his drivers well off the pace during the first third of the season.
Charles Leclerc secured Ferrari’s best result of the season by finishing second at the Monaco Grand Prix while Lewis Hamilton’s top three finishes this year have been limited to both Sprint Races.
The report suggests that Ferrari ‘casually inquired’ about Horner’s potential availability a few weeks ago.

They suggest that Ferrari chief John Elkann isn’t ‘happy’ and has been left to ‘ponder the continued employment’ of Vasseur.
However, their performance in Monaco is said to have relieved some of the pressure on the 56-year-old.
However, Sport Bild have also learned that Horner ‘doesn’t want to and won’t leave Red Bull’ this year and couldn’t imagine working for another team in the paddock.
The allure of the £3.8bn-valued Ferrari team doesn’t appeal to Horner, especially as the team are said to be ‘in crisis’ right now.

Christian Horner trying to chase down McLaren in the championship
It’s safe to say that Red Bull’s only hope this season is for Verstappen to somehow find a way to defeat both McLaren drivers if the team are going to win a championship this year.
McLaren could extend their lead over Red Bull to more than 200 points if results go their way at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Horner is trying to destabilise McLaren behind the scenes in an attempt to try and force them into mistakes on and off the track.

They seem to be wise to his tactics for now, but it’s one of the reasons why Ferrari might be keeping a close eye on him as he’s proved to be an effective leader in the paddock over the past two decades.
Andrea Stella revealed the ‘secret’ to McLaren’s success in Monaco that suggested Horner was off the mark with his analysis.
However, it won’t be long until he’s studying the Woking-based team’s activities again to try and find an advantage for Red Bull for the rest of the season.
