Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton might be questioning what’s going on at the team’s factory in Maranello after the first six races of the 2025 Formula 1 season.
At the end of the last campaign, it appeared as though Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur had everything figured out.
Charles Leclerc was making progress in the drivers’ championship and the team narrowly missed out on their first title since 2008 on the final day of the campaign.
The arrival of Lewis Hamilton only increased the excitement among the Tifosi, but the opening race of the season tempered expectations and things haven’t improved since then.
Martin Brundle was unimpressed by Ferrari’s radio messages to Hamilton at the Miami Grand Prix, as he got stuck in a tussle with Leclerc fighting over P7 and P8.

Fans weren’t happy with Ferrari’s communication, and while it didn’t ultimately cost them any points, they’re not in a position where they can afford to be inefficient.
However, Hamilton was surprisingly positive in his post-race interviews and that was noticed by Danica Patrick and Jenson Button.
That might be something to do with Vasseur’s intervention after the race to placate Hamilton after another tough weekend.

Danica Patrick loved Lewis Hamilton’s positive Miami Grand Prix verdict
Patrick and Button were covering the race for Sky Sports F1 (4/5 11:42 pm) and immediately reacted to Hamilton’s positive answers in his post-race talk with journalist Rachel Brookes.
It was also noted that he was the final driver in the media pen, suggesting he had taken much longer to speak to journalists than any other driver.
Patrick remarked, “My what time does to temperament, to be the last one in the last one in the pen.
“He’s much more cool, smiling, I mean that’s the first time I feel like I’ve heard that we know what it is, so that’s a positive.
“If they really know what it is and they feel that they know what’s coming, I mean, shoot look what happened with McLaren when Zak [Brown] said, ‘We’re going to figure this out, give us until mid-season,’ and they did.
“I mean, they’ve got things coming, great, that’ll be good to see, but it doesn’t ignore the fact that they need to make sure that strategy, communication is all really seamless and clear.
“I’ll say it again, it’s still race fix for Lewis and the team, but this is Formula 1.”
Button responded, “Yeah, we’re talking about communication in the car, but also communication in interviews, he came across really well, didn’t he Lewis, compared to the rest of the team.”

Lewis Hamilton papering over the cracks at Ferrari with positive Miami Grand Prix evaluation
While Hamilton might have been far happier than many people expected him to be following the Miami Grand Prix, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done at Ferrari ahead of their first race in Italy in two weeks.
Ferrari have discovered a design flaw that appears to be impacting their performance over one lap, highlighted by Hamilton’s Q2 exit and Leclerc’s barely squeezing into the top 10 shootout.
The amount of time it took Ferrari to decide whether to swap Hamilton and Leclerc and then execute the move is also a concern.

Hamilton nailed his strategy in the Sprint Race to earn third place but was forced into the decision by how quickly his tyres were going off, and Ferrari didn’t spot the problem as quickly as their driver despite all of the data available to them.
Plenty has been made of how long it’s going to take Hamilton to feel comfortable at Ferrari after 12 seasons racing for Mercedes.
It’s now up to Ferrari to maximise their performance after another tricky weekend for the Scuderia.
