Drive to Survive goes behind the scenes of Horner’s alleged messages

Drive to Survive Season 7 is set to be released on Netflix on Friday, March 7. The seventh series of the popular docuseries will feature several of the biggest storylines from 2024, including Lewis Hamilton’s decision to move to Ferrari, McLaren’s fight back to the top in the Constructors’ Standings, and the exit of Daniel Ricciardo. However, it will also touch on the accusations against Red Bull team chief Christian Horner.

Red Bull GmbH launched an investigation into the team principal after a female employee accused him of coercive and inappropriate behaviour. Although Horner was exonerated following the investigation, 24 hours after the investigation was closed, an email was sent to members of the media and others in the paddock, which included alleged messages between Horner and the employee. It is worth noting that the messages were not able to be verified.

After the accuser appealed the investigation results, Horner was once again cleared of the claims.

The upcoming series of Drive to Survive is set to give fans a look behind the scenes into the tense situation. The Red Bull chief explains in the series upon finding out about the messages:

“At the end of the second practice, suddenly my phone starts getting messages and this, that and the other. There’s a bombshell that’s dropped with a bunch of alleged messages.

“It was obviously premeditated to cause me the maximum amount of distraction, the maximum amount of aggravation.”

He later adds: “It was obvious that the end goal was for me to leave Red Bull.”

The Brit also states to the cameras: “The higher you rise, the sharper the knives. I’d reached the top of my game and I never thought in a million years I’d have a challenge like this in my career.”

Horner was seen with his wife, Geri Horner, putting on a united front in the paddock during the accusations. Speaking about not hiding away from it, Horner explained:

“It’s a crucial time of the year, and the job that I do, you’re the front face of the organisation,” Horner said. “You can either hide away or you can get out there and face it.”

Season 7 will consist of ten episodes and will be available on Netflix on Friday, March 7. This release of Drive to Survive comes a week ahead of the start of the 2025 Formula 1 season which will kick off with the Australian Grand Prix on March 14-16.
