F1 75 “great success” as CEO teases even bigger follow-up

Formula 1’s unprecedented 75th anniversary launch event at London’s O2 Arena has been called a “great success” by F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali who has further teased an even more ambitious follow-up. This event, while yet to be confirmed, could become a “25th Grand Prix” to launch the F1 season in the future.

Held on February 18th earlier this year, F1 75 shattered the viewing records of the sport with 1.1 million concurrent live viewers at its peak and 4.6 million total viewers across the live YouTube broadcast. This makes it the most successful broadcast the sport has ever published on the video hosting site.

It was a also a huge success in-person, with the event selling out of its 15,000 tickets within a matter of days.

All ten teams revealed their 2025 liveries together for the first time in the sport’s history, and were joined by the likes of Machine Gun Kelly, Take That, and comedian Jack Whitehall who hosted the event. And to make it an even more special moment, fans were treated to Lewis Hamilton dressed in his red race suit in public for the first time since joining Ferrari.

Domenicali is overjoyed with the success this event saw, admitting that there are even bigger plans set for the future.

“I think that has been a great success. Showing the platform, also to convince the more sceptical ones, that F1 has to think big,” he told Formula 1.  “If it’s happening every year is something we need to discuss. For sure, there is a lot of interest from different promoters from different places in the world, that would like to, let’s say, consider it as a 25th Grand Prix to launch the season.”

A decision on the future event is coming “very, very soon”, according to Domenicali.

The overwhelming success of F1 75 comes amid growing international interest in the sport. The F1 chief recently revealed plans to visit Bangkok regarding a race in the Thailand capital city.

“I think that the good thing that we were able to do in the last couple of years is to focus on the places that we do believe represent the future for Formula 1,” he told Sky Sports F1.

“We receive a lot of attention from other places in the world. By the way, I’m just finishing the race here in Melbourne, I go to Bangkok to see [if] there is a potential interest from the government to develop something there.

“We have other places in Europe, and as you know there are interests in Africa, there are interests in South America now.”

With Madrid joining the calendar in 2026 and rotating track schedules, the future is looking vast for F1.
