There is a lot of anticipation over Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, as the Briton attempts to win an unprecedented eighth title.
Hamilton had his first taste of Ferrari machinery after completing 90km at Fiorano test track, near the teams Maranello headquarters.
Around 3,000 fans turned up to catch of glimpse of Hamilton trackside, with him completing laps in the morning while Charles Leclerc took over in the afternoon. Leclerc was six seconds slower than Hamilton during his 14-lap run, however, the conditions were not representative of actual running.
There has been a lot of promotion of Hamilton’s arrival on Ferrari’s social channels, and their latest posts have also added to the hype around the move for fans on social media.

Hamilton’s posts on social media have already broken F1 records, showing just how popular he is with fans.
The seven-time world champion was a feature of their latest post which shows off the team kit, offering a first look at how both drivers will look in red this year.
One fan commented on Instagram by saying: “This will go down as one of the most iconic pictures of 2025 season!!”
Another remarked on Ferrari having one of the best lineups: “Best lineup on the grid, no debate” while another showed just how excited fans are about seeing Hamilton: “Haven’t been this excited for an F1 season since Michael.”
One fan said the hype around Hamilton had ‘reignited’ his love for the team: “Thank god for Ferrari F1 in 2025! Passion definitely being reignited!”
Another fan made a film reference: “50 shades of red” while another Ferrari fan simply stated: “We’re actually winning the lot this year.”
When can fans next see Lewis Hamilton in a Ferrari?
Hamilton will next get a chance to drive a Ferrari before the start of the season in Barcelona for a Pirelli tyre test in February, and a 2025 car shakedown that will take place again in Fiorano.
The seven-time world champion will first be presented as a Ferrari driver to the world at the group launch in London on 18th February, before Ferrari does a shakedown of the 2025 car on 19th February.

Leclerc and Hamilton will drive their 2025 challenger, although they will only be permitted to complete 100km.
Hamilton’s official race debut will come at the Australian Grand Prix, which is the opening round of the 2025 season held between 14-16th March.
