Sauber has unveiled a striking one-off livery which Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto will drive with for the Miami Grand Prix weekend.
Continuing with the fluorescent green and black theme, the team, which is soon to transition to Audi, has adopted a new paint splash design for the race weekend at the Hard Rock Stadium.
Comments from fans have hinted that they were hoping for a bit more from the Hinwil-based outfit, with many arguing that it doesn’t differentiate much from the normal livery design.
“Wow looks amazing, I really like how you guys didn’t change anything,” one fan commented with sarcasm.
Another wrote, “So its the exact same but a bit more messy? Real creative.”
However, not all reactions were bad. Some felt strongly enough to urge the team to continue with this livery for the remainder of the 2025 season.
“Should actually run this scheme for the year,” argued one fan on social media platform, X.
Speaking ahead of the race weekend, Hulkenberg shared his excitement for the “rhythm” of the circuit and the “extra spicy” sprint weekend. He stated in the Sauber F1 team preview:
“It is great to be back in Miami – I have enjoyed racing here over the past few years. There is a special atmosphere around this unique venue all weekend long, which makes it even more exciting.
“I like the rhythm the circuit has and the Sprint weekends there are always extra spicy – there is no easing into it: you jump straight into qualifying mode after just one practice session, so it’s key to get the car in a good place right from the very start.“
The German driver’s rookie team-mate Gabriel Bortoleto acknowledged that there will be “a lot to take in” at the Miami circuit, with it only being his second sprint weekend and his first time racing on the International Autodrome.
“Miami is a track I have never raced on before, and I am really looking forward to discovering it,” Bortoleto explained.
“The whole event always looks impressive on TV, and I am excited to experience it for the first time. I was able to spend some time in the simulator after Jeddah to get a better understanding of the circuit, and now I am looking forward to driving it for real. There is still a lot to take in this weekend – it is only my second Sprint event – but I feel well prepared and focused on making the most of it.”
