Fernando Alonso has shared his thoughts on the upcoming F1 movie after a private screening ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix last week.
During the lead-up to the race in Monte Carlo, the current Formula 1 grid had the opportunity to preview the F1 film. While speaking to Aston Martin following the screening, the two-time champion gave his initial feedback.
“It was a very nice movie,” he said. “And actually, it represents quite well what we have inside the paddock: the teams, the drivers. I think it’s quite a good thing for the fans around the world when they see the movie. I hope they like it as much as we do, and it was a very nice experience.
“It was fun also to see some of my colleagues, drivers, and myself as well, I have like two seconds in the movie. Even Lawrence [Stroll] is walking with the team principals on the pit lane. So, all in all, obviously, we see all the familiar faces, they were very much integrated in the Formula 1 paddock for over two years. So it was nice to see the result.”
Speaking about Stroll’s involvement in the film, Alonso remained tight-lipped on the specifics, but added:
“No, I mean Lawrence, I think he was good on camera. So I think he will be a good actor and so movies probably, they will call him again,” he said with a smile.

Overall, the feedback so far from the drivers has been extremely positive. While some picked up on minor inaccuracies, they feel that the average viewer likely won’t notice. Commenting on what he specifically liked from the film, Alonso concluded:
“I think a couple of the features in the movie, like the race start when you jump in the car. There is a lot of things going on on the grid with a lot of people, VIPs, etc. But then you jump in the car and you are alone in silence for those 30 seconds before the green light, and you go for the formation lap.
“So I think that was very well captured in the movie, and I think not only that, also the speed, the overtaking, the pressure. So yeah, I think it’s a very nice film.”
