Ferrari may have taken inspiration from Mercedes for key part ahead of Lewis Hamilton’s F1 arrival in 2025

Ferrari have officially welcomed Lewis Hamilton to their team ahead of the 2025 season and have already hit the track with their new car for the first time.

The SF25 is a new design after Ferrari decided to create a new car from scratch for Hamilton’s arrival from Mercedes.

They’re hoping to find big gains in the constructors’ championship race against McLaren, which is expected to be a very tight affair before the introduction of the 2026 F1 regulations.

Charles Leclerc is also hoping that he will inherit a car capable of competing for a drivers’ title while Red Bull and Max Verstappen are in a weaker position than they have been at all since 2022.

Hamilton gives Ferrari a ‘really valuable’ boost Leclerc cannot according to Gerhard Berger, with his star power possibly helping to attract engineers to Italy.

On the other hand, Leclerc may have an ‘unbridgeable’ advantage over Hamilton because he speaks such good Italian and has been in the Scuderia’s setup for so long.

Ferrari have a new rear wing ‘reminiscent’ of Mercedes part from 2024 for Lewis Hamilton

Formula 1 teams quite often learn and copy from each other in a bid to find extra speed, but it takes time to draw those parts up and bring them to the track – months in most cases.

It makes the winter the perfect time for them to test bringing new pieces to the car which they can assess during pre-season testing and decide whether to keep.

Bahrain will play host to the only test of pre-season for three days between February 26 and 28 next week.
