Ferrari might have just made one of the biggest driver signings in F1 history

Ferrari may have already made their move to replace Carlos Sainz for 2025 with the suggestion that Lewis Hamilton could have already signed a contract with the team.

Charles Leclerc is already signed up for the foreseeable future at Ferrari but now he might have a superstar teammate going forward.

Renowned Spanish journalist Antonio Lobato has shared what he’s heard about the huge potential move in the F1 paddock.

The Formula 1 driver market is one of the most fascinating things about the sport, especially when the season hasn’t started.

Leclerc and Lando Norris have made early moves to secure their futures, but if Lewis Hamilton does move, then it would shake up the entire grid.

Hamilton is currently signed up until the end of 2025 at Mercedes but hasn’t won a race in two seasons.

With major regulation changes on the horizon in 2026, Hamilton will want to position himself at the best team to try and break Michael Schumacher’s world championship record.

It’s now been suggested that Hamilton could have already signed a contract with Ferrari to partner Leclerc next year.

It leaves Carlos Sainz in a difficult position, but he will have a few options on the table.

Hamilton could have already signed Ferrari contract – Lobato

Posting on social media, Lobato said: “I don’t usually comment on rumours, but this is more than just a rumour.

“From what I have learned, the chances of Lewis Hamilton wearing Ferrari red in 2025 are very high, in fact, I do not rule out that he is already signed.

“Lewis has a contract until the end of 2025, but with an option to leave in 2024. The manoeuvre has caught Mercedes off guard, while Carlos Sainz expected it.

“This year is going to be difficult for Carlos at Ferrari, but his options for 2025 are several: A year of waiting at Sauber until it becomes Audi in 2026 or even a possible negotiation with Mercedes to take Hamilton’s place.”

Described by his old teammate Nico Rosberg as ‘awesome’, Hamilton would be the biggest signing Ferrari have made since Michael Schumacher if he has agreed a contract.

The Italian team haven’t won a championship since 2008 but the pairing of Leclerc and Hamilton would surely challenge Red Bull.

It would also leave Mercedes without their strongest driver and would require George Russell to step up in his absence.
