First images of Lewis Hamilton’s 2025 Ferrari F1 car confirm ‘completely revised’ technical change

Ferrari’s 2025 challenger has finally broken cover at Fiorano race track ahead of their season launch at Maranello.

Charles Leclerc took the car for a spin around Ferrari’s famous test track with it adorning the brand-new livery that the team showed off at the F1 75 event in London.

Both Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton were present at the F1 launch event, which showed off all the liveries for each individual team in front of 16,000 seated fans and over 1 million fans online.

The Ferrari SF-25 is an evolution of last year’s car, but there has been speculation over whether the team would make a key technical change to bring it in line with their rivals. Ex-Mercedes engineer Loic Serra had reportedly worked on this key change, after requesting it early in his tenure.

As the first images of Leclerc driving the car around Fiorano emerged, it was clear that the team had now made this change to their car according to Motorsport.it.

Ferrari makes switch to pull-rod front suspension

Ferrari is changing its front suspension concept with its 2025 challenger, as part of a raft of changes which it hopes will enable them to bring home their first Drivers’ Championship since 2007 and potentially help Hamilton win his eighth world title.

Motorsport.it has reported that the front suspension has been ‘completely revised’ with the transition from the pushrod to the pullrod.

Images from the shakedown confirm that Ferrari has switched to a pullrod configuration at the front of their car, which means it will join Red Bull and McLaren.

The mechanical advantages are said to be the same, but the packaging offers significant aerodynamic advantages and it allows for greater control of the right height and response from the front end of the car.

This is because the front suspension can be ran softer at higher ride heights, thus offering better grip at slow-speed corners, and stiff at lower right heights to give greater stability.

Lewis Hamilton ‘invigorated’ about driving for Ferrari in 2025

The changes to the front suspension is an area that often threw up challenges for Hamilton while at Mercedes, which might give him a better head start for the 2025 season.

Fans have reacted well to him embedding himself at Ferrari, after seeing him take part in tests in older Ferrari cars and in the red suit.
