Lewis Hamilton will make his eagerly anticipated move to Ferrari ahead of the 2025 season to partner Charles Leclerc.
The British driver is looking for his eighth world championship after enduring three frustrating seasons to end his illustrious stint at the Mercedes team.
Hamilton has won just two races over the past three years as Mercedes have been inconsistent and lagged behind Red Bull, as well as, more recently, McLaren.
Ferrari will provide a new challenge for Hamilton who has still shown moments of magic despite floundering in the midfield at times.
Former Formula 1 driver Giedo van der Garde told the DRS: De Race Show YouTube channel that Hamilton will need one thing in particular to be competitive at Ferrari.
Lewis Hamilton needs a ‘strong’ rear end at Ferrari to maximise his potential

Hamilton has been incredibly successful over his career, winning seven world championships across his time at McLaren and Mercedes.
He has been able to finesse his deft touch on the brake pedal to stop the car incredibly late which can gain him time over his rivals.

Confidence under braking has been critical to Hamilton’s driving style over the years as he demands stability under braking.
Van der Garde explained Hamilton can become incredibly competitive at Ferrari if he can have a stable rear of the car.
The Dutchman said: “I really think if he gets a car next year where the rear is strong with that Ferrari. The Ferrari is just very stable, and Hamilton is a driver who needs a stable rear end so he doesn’t break out much, which can bring him confidence.
“If it has the rear end like it should have last weekend, then it’s possible he can be a little monster at Ferrari.”
Lewis Hamilton will want to finish his Mercedes career on a high
Hamilton has spent the majority of his Formula 1 career with Mercedes since joining the team at the start of the 2013 season.
He can still beat his teammate George Russell in the championship standings although Hamilton is nine points behind with two races left.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix was a very competitive drive from the seven-time world champion as he stormed through from 10th to finish in second place.
Qatar and Abu Dhabi host the final two rounds of the season and they may be more difficult for Mercedes as they are both in hot conditions which they have struggled with.
