There will be a handful of Formula 1 drivers who might be wondering whether their seat is safe during a rare off weekend for the teams.
After five Grand Prix in the first six weeks of the season, all 20 drivers now have time to decompress before heading to the next race in Miami.
Although no driver has lost their place on the grid at this stage of the campaign, there has already been a swap between the two Red Bull-backed teams.
Liam Lawson couldn’t deal with Red Bull’s difficult-to-drive car, and he was replaced by Yuki Tsunoda going into the Japanese Grand Prix.
Tsunoda has scored more points for RB than Red Bull at this point of the year, highlighting just how difficult the RB21 is to drive.

Lawson is one of four drivers who is yet to score a point in 2025, alongside Aston Martin star Fernando Alonso, Sauber rookie Gabriel Bortoleto and Alpine driver Jack Doohan.
Former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner believes the Australian member of that quartet is fighting for his F1 future, but might not be under immediate threat.

Guenther Steiner thinks Jack Doohan could be sacked by Alpine during the summer break
Steiner was asked on The Red Flags Podcast during a segment called, ‘Gas or Brake’ if Alpine should replace Doohan after the first five races of the season and responded: “Wow, it’s a difficult one.
“Jack hasn’t made any of those six points by the way. Gas, but gas after the summer break.
“If he doesn’t do any better there, I think that will happen anyway. If Jack doesn’t do better and that’s a fair chance, a half a season, and then just say, ‘Hey, it doesn’t work.’
“The difficulty here is I mean the Alpine is not a fantastic car but Pierre Gasly again was in Q3, he was going well, and in Q3, not in P10, he was there.
“So, the car is not as bad as we think it is, but it’s got its ups and downs.
“I think Jack knows that he needs to deliver, and Jack sometimes delivers if he just can do it consistently because he struggled in the race.”

Jack Doohan has been fighting for his Alpine future since his Formula 1 debut
Doohan may not be in the slowest car on the grid, but he’s arguably been in the toughest position.
The expectations on the likes of Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg are much lower than what Doohan currently faces, especially, as Steiner points out, because Pierre Gasly is performing so well.
Gasly is unfortunate to have only scored six points this season, and while his Australian teammate has shown glimpses of brilliance, he’s not been consistent enough.
Doohan was handed an opportunity to race at the end of the 2024 season, but immediately faced internal pressure.

Flavio Briatore has warned Doohan that needs to perform straight away, and the likes of Franco Colapinto and Paul Aron are waiting in the wings in case Alpine decide to make a change.
Doohan has until the summer break to convince Alpine that he deserves a full Formula 1 season.
However, Colapinto is expected to race for Alpine at some point this year, otherwise, it’s hard to understand why Williams would agree to loan him out.
