How Martin Brundle expects Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari relationship to pan out in 2025

The Formula 1 storylines are poised to be some of the most exciting of the 21st century when cars hit the track for the start of the 2025 season.

Whenever a world champion joins Ferrari, especially one of the calibre of Lewis Hamilton, it comes with great expectation and anticipation.

No one knows whether the Brit would still be on the grid if he had claimed an eighth title in 2021, but he’s now involved in another box-office bout.

Lining up alongside Charles Leclerc, who has six seasons under his belt with the Scuderia, may be Hamilton’s greatest-ever challenge, but not one that is too steep to overcome.

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will have a ‘good relationship’ at Ferrari

Leclerc has rarely clashed with teammates through the years, enjoying a good relationship with Carlos Sainz and a somewhat harmonious time with Sebastian Vettel.

But this is the last chance for one of the greatest drivers of all time to leave his mark on the sport and put some distance between him and everyone else in the championship column.

Speaking on Sky Sports F1 ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Martin Brundle shared whether he believes the two will get on in 2025.

“I think Charles is a world-class championship material Formula 1 driver in his own right,” he said. “I think he’s smart enough and he’s humble enough to realise he can learn things from Lewis.

“There’s no point in fighting him or alienating him. Of course, he wants to beat him, he wants to beat everybody. He wants to beat Lewis now when he’s in a Mercedes. I see that being a good relationship actually.”

Who will be top dog at the start of the 2025 season for Ferrari?

Ferrari confirmed that Hamilton and Leclerc will enjoy equal status at the beginning of their new regime in 2025 this week.

The established driver in Leclerc, who knows the team inside out, should be in the best position to hit the ground running at the start of the season.

Hamilton has to learn a new team, a new car, and a new language while maintaining the same speed that has helped to forge his success.

Team boss Fred Vasseur enjoys a good relationship with both of them, and he has known his new driver for 20 years now.

They will all need to work well together if they are to help the Scuderia finally get over what is currently a 16-year title drought.
