Red Bull might need to call on their reserves in the next couple of races if Max Verstappen incurs any more penalty points on his FIA superlicence.
The Dutchman has now accrued 11 points on his superlicence after a late-race collision with George Russell, which puts him just one point away from a ban.
Verstappen will have to ensure that he stays out of trouble in the next two races, as his next points expire at the end of June.
Any replacement would likely come in the form of an experienced driver such as Liam Lawson or possibly even a comeback for Daniel Ricciardo.
While Arvid Lindblad would likely be out of the frame due to his inexperience, Red Bull are reportedly looking at gaining a superlicence exemption, according to a report from The Race.

Red Bull not eyeing any changes despite Arvid Lindblad Super Licence request
Red Bull’s request is set to be discussed at the upcoming FIA World Motor Sport Council meeting in Macau next week, according to the report.
Lindblad currently meets all the other requirements for a superlicence, including accruing enough points in junior formulas, but he does not turn 18 years old until August.
This rule was introduced following Verstappen’s debut at 17 years old in 2015, when he did not have a driving licence. A provision was added to the superlicence rules by the FIA last year, which enabled teams to seek an exemption.
But while Lindblad could be eligible for the exemption for an early F1 outing, Red Bull are not currently eyeing a potential replacement for any drivers in either of their teams, according to The Race.
Helmut Marko thinks Arvid Lindblad can ‘expect’ promotion if he continues F2 form
While Red Bull might not want to promote any of its drivers currently competing, Helmut Marko has indicated that Lindblad could get a drive if his results in F2 continue to impress in his Speedweek column.
“Arvid Lindblad also had a strong appearance in Formula 2. He won the main race of the highest junior class and thus already celebrated the second victory in his rookie season,” wrote Marko.
“If he continues like this, you can expect his promotion to Formula 1. He is only 17 years young, but also a very great talent.”
Lindblad is likely going to put pressure on Lawson to improve his results, having been demoted to Racing Bulls and yet to outclass teammate Isack Hadjar in the first half of 2025.
