Kimi Antonelli left Lewis Hamilton in hysterics for one hilarious unseen reason during F1’s viral Lego race in Miami

Lewis Hamilton described the driver’s parade at the Miami Grand Prix as the best he had ever taken part in during his career in Formula 1.

Every F1 driver is incredibly competitive and that was on show before last Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix even started.

Instead of the normal procedure of being interviewed on the back of a flatbed truck driving around the circuit before a race, each pair of drivers were given a lifesize Lego car to drive instead.

Each car was made up of hundreds of thousands of pieces, and the ensuing chaos was incredibly popular with the drivers and immediately went viral.

The Mercedes and Williams cars didn’t even make it back to the start line after a collision with the wall, while Max Verstappen in an interview afterwards, suggested the track needed sweeping up given how many Lego bricks were strewn around the circuit.

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were racing alongside George Russell and Kimi Antonelli for much of the lap.

The seven-time world champion allowed Leclerc to take the wheel, while Antonelli was also the passenger in his Lego Mercedes, and what happened next left Hamilton nearly crying with laughter.

Lewis Hamilton in hysterics at Kimi Antonelli during the Miami Grand Prix Lego race

Formula 1 shared a video on YouTube of the lap, and as the teams are driving down the long back straight at the Miami circuit, Antonelli is sitting in the back of the Lego Mercedes car with Russell at the wheel.

An onboard camera on the Mercedes car then sees Antonelli take a phone call during the mayhem.

The Ferrari car is driving alongside them, and Hamilton looks over and points, shouting, ‘He’s on the phone,’ before immediately bursting into hysterics.

He then shouts across and says, ‘Hey Kimi, you look like you’re doing business calls!’ before filming the young Italian.

Leclerc then asks, ‘What is he doing? Is he discussing a strategy call?’ and Hamilton asks, ‘Who is he speaking to?’

Antonelli struggled for pace during the actual race in Miami despite getting the upper hand on Russell during qualifying for the first time in his F1 career.

Hamilton had plenty of issues with his Ferrari as well, finishing behind the Italian teenager, and he and Leclerc got caught up in another slow strategy call from the team.

Given the pressure going into each Grand Prix, it was amazing to see how relaxed each driver was during the pre-race event.

While the teams might have wanted to spend a bit more time going over any final strategy decisions or tactics, it’s likely that the distraction of such a unique race may well have helped the drivers going into the race.

Antonelli has been very impressive since his F1 debut in Australia, avoiding any massive mistakes and slowly closing the gap to Russell.

Jenson Button admitted Antonelli has blown his mind after his Sprint Race pole position, and while he made a slight misjudgement at the start which ultimately cost him points, he still broke the record for the youngest-ever pole sitter in F1 by nearly three years.

For Hamilton, he appears to have joined Ferrari at a difficult time, with Leclerc also struggling to turn the SF-25 into a genuine contender.

Ralf Schumacher has suggested Hamilton is facing internal struggles at Ferrari, and while there’s always going to be some adjustment time for any driver at a new team, it might be the case that their focus turns to 2026 sooner rather than later.
