Lando Norris would have learnt a lot over the 2024 Formula 1 season as he competed consistently at the front of the field for the first time.
The British driver took his first win at the Miami Grand Prix and three more wins to help seal the Constructors’ Championship for McLaren.
This season was mixed for Norris despite winning the title for McLaren and completing the deal with a faultless victory at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Although McLaren won the Constructor’s Championship, the British driver had the opportunity and a fast enough car to challenge the driver’s title.
Norris struggled at times in the second half of the year to remain consistent and take advantage of the issues of world champion Max Verstappen.
He has also been under pressure from his teammate Oscar Piastri, and Peter Windsor explained that he may find one habit at McLaren frustrating.
Lando Norris may find McLaren using data overlays ‘very annoying’

Norris has improved a lot this season and took some superb victories but his teammate Piastri has been better in some aspects.
The 2016 Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg feels Piastri is more reliable than Norris as the Australian driver made less errors over the year.
Piastri has always kept Norris on his toes since they became teammates at the start of 2023 and has more of an edge in wheel-to-wheel combat.

There is so much data available to Formula 1 teams, and Windsor explained Norris might find McLaren engineers comparing him and Piastri a source of frustration.
He said on his YouTube channel: “He [Norris] hasn’t been able to focus 100% on driving out of his garage into the pit lane. He’s always had to be slightly aware of what’s going on on one side of the garage next to him because this is the guy he’s got to beat.
“There’ll be engineers putting in overlays all the time with Oscar, and that’s very annoying for him as much as he has to say, ‘Isn’t this brilliant? We’re working as a team, and, Wow, isn’t it wonderful? Oscar gave me that win’ or whatever in the sprint race. Give me a break. But don’t underestimate Lando, he’s very, very good.”
Lando Norris needs to be more consistent to win the championship
Norris proved he could win races and deal with significant pressure, such as in Abu Dhabi when one mistake could have handed the championship to Ferrari.
He also had a competitive pace in qualifying and took eight pole positions, underlining his raw talent behind the wheel.
Norris scored more pole positions than Lewis Hamilton did in a season at McLaren, which is very impressive.
The errors in the races need to be cut out, such as in Brazil, where he missed a chance to capitalise on Verstappen’s poor qualifying.
