Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc tease upcoming movie project after viral TikTok

Lewis Hamilton recently recreated an iconic scene from the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. He posted the results to his new TikTok account, where the video amassed 9.7 million views. In a recent video alongside team-mate Charles Leclerc, he’s teased what might come next.

Hamilton has always been a fan of film. From a young age, he would watch and enjoy movies, with one movie in particular launching his love for Ferrari.

“I love movies. I love film,” Hamilton explained in a recent YouTube video for the Ferrari Formula 1 team. “Ferris Bueller was actually the first time I saw a Ferrari – I must’ve been five or six.”

The legendary 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder, the car in question, left a lasting impression on Hamilton as he grew into the racing world, starting his career aged eight.

The Formula One star elaborated on how the idea for the recreation emerged:

“About a year and a half – maybe two years ago – I started a production company. Me and my friend Timmy were sitting around, just talking, and we started talking about Ferris Bueller. I said, ‘How sick would it be if we could reshoot that scene where they’re driving the Ferrari over the hill and landing to the Star Wars music?’ That idea just never left my mind after I envisioned it.”

His dream came to fruition thanks to his own production company, Dawn Apollo Films, which worked with him to recreate the famous scene, where they also managed to integrate acclaimed actor Edward Norton alongside him.

The video wasn’t a simple project for the team. “It definitely took a lot of cutting edge tech, production and planning to get right,” Hamilton shared on social media.  “Had to get the exact car too… it’s been a dream car since seeing the movie,” he admitted.

Being highly involved in the F1 film, Hamilton has been enjoying a creative year so far, and he’s far from finished.

“The next kind of film clip that I’m looking to do is something from an Eddie Murphy movie.”

Leclerc, sitting next to his new team-mate and listening intently, was asked what film he’d like to star in. Answering, Harry Potter, because he was told he used to look like the fictional wizard, Hamilton was quick to suggest an idea to the young Monegasque.

“Maybe I’ll do your Harry Potter one first. Maybe I’ll do the Harry Potter thing with you!”

Both Hamilton and Leclerc will be entering the Japanese Grand Prix with the need for a chaos-free race weekend. After both drivers were disqualified following the Chinese Grand Prix, the drivers want some good points at Suzuka to retain their place towards the top of the drivers’ standings.
