Lewis Hamilton now has worrying ‘suspicion’ about Ferrari after spotting a big internal transformation since joining

Lewis Hamilton endured another disappointing day at the office since joining Ferrari as the seven-time F1 champion could only get sixth place in the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix.

In a race which saw teammate Charles Leclerc inherit a podium finish with third place due to Max Verstappen’s time penalty for driving into George Russell, Hamilton was even overtaken by Nico Hulkenberg. The Sauber racer passed the Briton on Lap 65/66 and built a 1.86s lead.

Hamilton started the Spanish GP from P5 on the grid last Sunday at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, while Hulkenberg started his race down in only P15. Yet the Ferrari driver seldom showed the speed he needed, and was even told to switch places with Leclerc for P4 on L10.

Lewis Hamilton now has a ‘suspicion’ that some of Ferrari’s staff no longer support him

Such was the 40-year-old’s plight at the Montmelo venue that Hamilton was desperate to go ‘home’ after the Spanish GP, having struggled once again with the unpredictable rear end of Ferrari’s car. His onboard camera after the race also proved just how deflated Hamilton was.

The Stevenage-born star’s mood is also not improving thanks to the feeling that Hamilton is getting at Ferrari’s factory in Maranello. Corriere della Sera reports that Hamilton has built a ‘suspicion’ that not every member of Ferrari’s staff supports him or understands the F1 icon.

Hamilton has seen too many members of Ferrari’s staff transform from celebrating the 105-time Grand Prix winner’s arrival from Mercedes in January to becoming ‘merciless accusers’ just nine rounds into the 2025 F1 season. He has secured 71 points to Leclerc’s 94 this term.

Hope is not lost entirely just yet, however, as Hamilton is still holding out hope that Ferrari’s upgrades can save his season. The Scuderia are working on a new floor but the pride of Italy are pinning their hopes on Ferrari’s rear suspension upgrade due at the Austrian Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton has only beaten Charles Leclerc in one Grand Prix due to Ferrari’s strategy

More than 1,000 fans visited Fiorano for Hamilton’s first laps in a Ferrari this January, as they celebrated the arrival of statistically the greatest F1 driver of all time. The streets around the track also saw 5,000 fans see Hamilton’s first run in Ferrari’s 2025 car at Fiorano in February.

Yet the 40-year-old has not adjusted to the SF-25’s unpredictable rear end, while Leclerc is able to extract the performance of Ferrari’s 2025 F1 car to claim three Grand Prix podiums in the last five rounds. Hamilton’s average final position in those races is P6 to Leclerc’s P4.2.

The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix also remains the only race in which Hamilton has finished in front of his latest teammate after taking P4 at Imola to Leclerc’s P6 in Ferrari’s backyard. But he only got ahead at Imola as Ferrari opted against pitting Leclerc under the late safety car.
