Lewis Hamilton looked about the most dejected as he has ever been after another disappointing race for Ferrari at the Spanish Grand Prix.
He sits in a bit of no-man’s-land down in sixth in the drivers’ championship, and has struggled alongside new teammate Charles Leclerc this year.
For whatever reason, the Ferrari just doesn’t seem to suit Hamilton’s driving style, and he’s tried everything to adapt to the car.
Just over one-third of the way through his first Formula 1 season with them, and the question on everyone’s lips is how will 2026 go if they’ve struggled so much this year.
Hamilton has made a ‘very uncomfortable’ change at Ferrari by altering his driving style to suit their car this season, and it may be what is bugging him so much.
After spending time in Maranello, Hamilton even sent Ferrari a simulator warning ahead of a new technical directive for the Spanish Grand Prix. He said he couldn’t feel a difference before and after modifications.

Lewis Hamilton needs Fred Vasseur to do one thing Toto Wolff was ‘very good’ at doing
Hamilton did something unusual at the Spanish Grand Prix by going out of his way to avoid the media, despite being in full Ferrari gear. Perhaps he was trying his best to really stay in the zone and the best frame of mind possible.
Team boss Fred Vasseur has been kind to his drivers this year, despite their struggles with the SF25, which have been clear for everyone to see.
Riccardo Ceccarelli believes that the French boss needs to change his approach to the seven-time champion if he wants to get the best out of his time with the Scuderia.
“I don’t see anything strange about it, and we see that a certain frustration begins to appear even in Hamilton’s words in his interviews,” he said.
“So, you know, with frustration, it’s then difficult to go and look for the tenth, the two tenths that can make the difference. So and this is what the team should be about.
“You remember, I always told you that for me, Toto Wolff has always been very good at trying to protect his drivers, to put them in the best psychological conditions, especially in difficult moments. He did it with Hamilton too.”

Ferrari planning two crucial updates for Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc in 2025
Ferrari’s car ended last year on the heels of McLaren and really pushing to be recognised as one of, if not the best on the entire grid.
They changed car concept over the winter, and since then, everything has come crashing down. It was a mistake of theirs looking back on it.
Now, Ferrari are planning two crucial updates that should drag them back into contention at the front of the field when they arrive, it’s just that they are yet to be confirmed for a specific race.
It’ll be music to the ears of Hamilton, who knows that he’s going to need some help if he is to achieve a dream win for Ferrari on a Sunday.
