Lewis Hamilton reveals behind the scenes of internet-breaking TikTok post

Celebrating his Ferrari debut, Lewis Hamilton recreated a scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, a film not only close to his heart, but featuring a Ferrari road car that the driver had been eyeing for a long time. After making quite the splash online with the video being posted to his new TikTok account, Hamilton released the behind the scenes of the substantial production.

After leaving Mercedes for the greener grass of Ferrari, the seven-time world champion faced a difficult opening race of the 2025 Formula 1 season. The Australian Grand Prix saw him finish in P10, two places behind his team-mate Charles Leclerc. Joining team chief Fred Vasseur, he hopes to challenge the grid for wins this year.

But while his season got off to a challenging start, he was over the moon with is Tiktok debut.

“Still buzzing about how it all came together. It’s been a ride from start to finish. From coming up with the idea to do this, spending a full day on set, and sending this out into the world. Hope you enjoyed, and hope it inspires you to put time and energy into what brings you joy.”

Alongside actor Edward Norton, who’s starred in the likes of Flight Club and The Incredible Hulk, Hamilton sat behind the wheel of one of his dream cars.

“That’s the ultimate retirement car,” he said of the Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder which starred in the original film.

“I can just see myself with Roscoe [his pet bulldog], him with a scarf and goggles in the seat next to me, driving down the PCH.”

Working with his production company, Dawn Apollo Films, they filmed the driver in front of what look to be green and LCD screens, similar to what was used in the filming of the Mandalorian.

“Ferris Bueller’s Day Off has been one of my favourite movies since I was a kid,” the Ferrari driver posted alongside the original video. “This is to pay homage to the iconic film and to celebrate my first season with Ferrari.

“It definitely took a lot of cutting edge tech, production and planning to get right. Had to get the exact car too … it’s been a dream car since seeing the movie. Shout out to the legendary @edwardnortonofficial for coming along for the ride. This is the energy and excitement I’m bringing to the track this year. ANDIAMO !!”

Hamilton will be looking for a better race this weekend as Ferrari reportedly struggles with the ride height of their SF-25. After increasing the gap between the car and the tarmac for qualifying last weekend due to unforeseen circumstances, the car lost aerodynamic load. They’ll be hoping to rebalance the car in China.
