Lewis Hamilton may be about to face the biggest test of his Formula 1 career after deciding to make a move to Ferrari ahead of the 2025 season.
The seven-time champion joins Ferrari after a tricky few campaigns at Mercedes, who have fallen away from the top of the Formula 1 pecking order.
Hamilton is on the hunt for a record-breaking eighth drivers’ championship as he becomes their first full-time Brit since Nigel Mansell drove for them in 1990.
He links up with Charles Leclerc, an undeniable talent with championship-delivering capabilities. The Monegasque driver should be able to learn a lot from a legend of the sport.
Bernie Collins thinks Hamilton faces a troubling challenge at Ferrari as he attempts to adjust to a new engine for the first time in his 18-year career.
Juan Pablo Montoya has warned Leclerc not to fight ‘ugly’ with Hamilton over fears that it may destabilise the Italian team just as they start to build some positive momentum.

Lewis Hamilton could reach another level if Ferrari give him a winning car in 2025
Ferrari expect Hamilton to perform on his Australian Grand Prix debut and have no doubts that he will be straight up to speed in one of their machines.
A crash in pre-season testing at Barcelona did him few favours and took some much-needed track time away from him, but he gets more time in the car before heading to Melbourne yet.

ESPN’s Laurence Edmondson has indicated that he may be able to reach another level if he is given a capable car.
“This other thing about Hamilton, which having spoken to a few people at the end of his Mercedes career that have worked with him for a long time, James Vowles, for example, who was a Mercedes strategist for a long time and went to become Williams team principal,” he said.
“He said the one key thing about Lewis is that when the opportunity is there, when a win is on the line and also when a championship is on the line.
“You get this extra level of Lewis Hamilton that you wouldn’t necessarily get if the car is fighting for fourth or fifth, which is kind of what we became accustomed to a lot over the last three or four years at Mercedes.”
Bernie Ecclestone predicts Lewis Hamilton ‘won’t last’ at Ferrari
While many are in favour of seeing one of the greatest drivers of all time don a red suit, ex-Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone is not one of them.
He knows his fellow countryman well from his time running the sport and has witnessed him achieve so much through the years.
Ecclestone says Hamilton won’t last until the end of his Ferrari contract and believes that he will leave them before the end of 2026.
With the 2026 F1 regulations being a new dawn, there’s every chance that the new cars may suit his driving style more than it does his rivals.
As he approaches the age of 40, his best years may be behind him, but he should still have a few of them ahead of him.
