Racing Bulls had their best race weekend of the season after securing double points during the Monaco Grand Prix.
Isack Hadjar has been one of the breakout stars of the 2025 F1 season and added eight more points to his tally on Sunday.
Racing Bulls have had a solid start to the year but were subject to their driver line-up changing after just two races when Yuki Tsunoda was promoted to race for Red Bull until the end of the campaign.
That meant a return to the sister team for Liam Lawson after prematurely being placed alongside Max Verstappen at the beginning of 2025.
His return to Racing Bulls hasn’t been easy and he’s struggled to consistently match Hadjar’s pace.

However, the Monaco Grand Prix was his best result in Formula 1, coming home in eighth after reaching Q3 for the first time this year.
The team implemented some interesting tactics to capitalise on the new mandatory two-stop rules introduced to try and make the race more exciting, although Martin Brundle didn’t like the changes made to the Monaco Grand Prix.
That quickly backfired when Racing Bulls decided to hold up the pack so that Lawson or Hadjar could take their pit stops without the threat of being overcut, which earned the New Zealander a new nickname among his fans.

Liam Lawson reacts to ‘great’ Monaco Grand Prix result for Racing Bulls
Speaking in his official post-race press conference, Lawson said: “It was a great result for the team, and it’s always nice to come away with points, which isn’t the easiest around Monaco.
“Having both cars finish in the points was exactly what we needed. Everything came together nicely this weekend, and we executed the race perfectly.
“The strategy made sense for us today, with both cars qualifying well and showing strong pace throughout the weekend.
“The two-stop format didn’t make a huge difference for us, it can create more opportunities but today’s race played out fairly straightforwardly. The pace has been there for a few races now, so it was good to show it this weekend.”

Ralf Schumacher previously suggested Lawson could lose his race seat based on his previous performances so far this year.
He’s had a difficult time adjusting to running for Racing Bulls again but appears to be up to speed now, even if Hadjar still has a slight advantage.
Arvid Lindblad is lurking in Formula 2 potentially waiting to replace Lawson and he’ll be well aware of what he needs to do to fend off the British teenager taking his seat.
