Liam Lawson names the 104-race Formula 1 driver he’d love to live with in the future

Formula 1 drivers are often known for being friendly off-track despite battling for wins and podiums on track, coming to within inches of a dangerous crash on occasion.

The relationship between each of the 20 drivers is well known, with many sharing similar passions and interests off track. All of the drivers were recently pictured going out to dinner at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, as the celebrated the end of the season.

The 2025 season will see five rookies make their full-time debuts on the grid, including Liam Lawson who joins Red Bull alongside Max Verstappen.

Discussing which of the drivers he would most like to live with during an interview with Auto Motor und Sport, Lawson chose another fellow Red Bull driver.

Liam Lawson names Alex Albon as driver he would most like to live with

Prior to becoming a F1 driver, Lawson had a fairly successful career in DTM and came close to winning the title in 2021.

Lawson was part of the Red Bull-sponsored AF Corse team alongside Alex Albon, who he grew close to while competing in the German series.

When asked about wanting to live with him at the Nordschleife after doing a hot lap as part of a promotion with Albon, the New Zealander said: “We [me and Albon] talked about it a few years ago and I want to keep the idea going. It’s a really cool place. We used to go there regularly when we were both racing in the DTM.

“Then we went to the Nordschleife in road cars. We had a simple VW Golf and a Citroën C3 and stayed in touch via Bluetooth and WhatsApp calls. We overtook a BMW M2 and all the other sporty cars. To be honest, it was really one of the funniest things I’ve ever done in a car.”

Liam Lawson getting advice from Alex Albon on dealing with Max Verstappen

Lawson faces a big challenge in 2025 at Red Bull given Verstappen has only ever been beaten twice by a teammate, which was in the early stages of his F1 career.

Albon has previously spoken about how challenging it was to go up against Verstappen in the same team, given how particular he likes to have the car setup.

Lawson said he plans to call Albon and draw on his experience, which now spans 104 races in F1, to understand the best way to approach the situation.

Christian Horner has already warned Lawson that he must not get caught up in the data, given what has happened with previous stars including Pierre Gasly and Daniel Ricciardo.
