Legendary Formula 1 team owner and television pundit Eddie Jordan has died at the age of 76.
Eddie Jordan ran the Jordan Grand Prix team from 1991 to 2005 and led one of the final great independent F1 teams to multiple victories during his time in the sport.
A hilarious and popular character, Jordan also spent time analysing Formula 1 after selling his team to the Midland Group and co-hosted a podcast with racing driver David Coulthard before passing away on March 20.
A statement from his family read: “Eddie passed away peacefully with family by his side in Cape Town in the early hours of 20th March 2025 at the age of 76, after battling with an aggressive form of prostate cancer for the past 12 months.”
The proud Irishman had outspoken views on everything happening in Formula 1 and more often than not was spot on.
Jordan changed his mind about Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari as soon as he saw the seven-time world champion in their iconic red colours and if he believed the switch would be a success, there’s a good chance it will be.
Martin Brundle raced for Jordan during his Formula 1 career before they both switched focus to working in the media later in their careers.
He’s among many people associated with the sport who have already paid tribute to the iconic team boss.

Former F1 driver and pundit Karun Chandhok also shared a message on social media about Jordan and commented: “There will never be another like him. Sleep well EJ.”
Jake Humphreys used to work alongside Jordan in the media and in his tribute said: “Utterly devastated. EJ has left us.
“Formula One won’t see the likes of Eddie ever again where a guy with a love for racing can hustle his way into the sport and end up winning races.

More important than race wins though, he won hearts. I will never forget how his face would… pic.twitter.com/GarukuYLDS

“More important than race wins though, he won hearts. I will never forget how his face would always light up whenever he saw a Jordan GP jacket, flag or cap… as we travelled the world together years after the team had been sold.”

Eddie Jordan and Martin Brundle’s relationship in Formula 1
Brundle raced for Jordan’s Formula Three team in 1983 before they both started their careers in F1.
Ayrton Senna was Brundle’s rival at the time and the Brazilian just edged him out in the championship that year.
The pair were reunited in 1996 when Eddie Irvine left Jordan to race alongside another of his former drivers Michael Schumacher at Ferrari.
It turned out to be his final year as a Formula 1 driver as he was beaten by teammate Rubens Barrichello and Brundle recently admitted being dropped by Jordan forced him to retire.
In an interview with the Independent at the time, Jordan said: “In my eyes, Martin is a proven winner, one of our favourite sons.
“Last year the blend of Irvine and Barrichello was not productive. People were surprised we let Irvine go to Ferrari, but I released him when I had an undertaking from Martin.
“He is the perfect choice in our present position.”
Although Brundle could never achieve that coveted F1 race win during his career, he at least got to race for one of the men he owed his time in motorsport to one last time.
