The tradition of displaying driver names over the pit garage has been broken at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, with the display boards instead featuring the names of the artists on the soundtrack of the upcoming F1 movie.
Usually the drivers’ names and their headshots are featured atop their respective garages, but visitors to the famous Miami International Autodrome are being treated to something that could certainly confuse a new fan. While this writer would love to see Ed Sheeran in an F1 car around the Florida track, it ain’t going to happen this weekend.
Tied directly to the upcoming F1 movie, directed by Joseph Kosinski and with Lewis Hamilton listed as a producer, it will star Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes and Damson Idris as the young Joshua Pearce. Pitt’s character is pulled back into the industry to help the struggling Apx Grand Prix F1 team and their new, inexperienced rookie driver.
We’ve already seen the film crew at several Grands Prix over the past couple of seasons, and while filming was wrapped late last year, there’s no missing the fictional team in Miami as they ramp up their marketing efforts ahead of the movie release later this year.
