Peter Windsor warns Lewis Hamilton he faces one bigger ‘problem’ than Charles Leclerc at the Canadian Grand Prix

The upcoming Canadian Grand Prix is a circuit which suits the strengths of Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton and may offer him the chance to earn a good result.

The Brit sits sixth in the drivers’ championship and is yet to score a podium for Ferrari since his arrival from Mercedes over the winter.

With the hype surrounding Hamilton’s big move, the results have been disappointing this season, but he will hope that there is more to come.

The 39-year-old has won the Canadian Grand Prix seven times in 15 attempts, which makes the circuit his third most successful venue in Formula 1.

Hamilton will be very interested in Fred Vasseur’s Ferrari car comments after his boss admitted that the team will continue to accelerate their development.

It means that Ferrari are rushing their Canadian Grand Prix upgrades in a bid to catch McLaren at the front before it gets too late. They want to win now.

Peter Windsor warns Lewis Hamilton of ‘problem’ against Charles Leclerc at the Canadian Grand Prix

Hamilton needs Vasseur to copy Toto Wolff at Ferrari and help motivate him if he wants to get the best out of the seven-time champion.

The longer his win drought goes on, the more of a dent to his confidence he will suffer. Approaching the age of 40, that’s not going to be easy to recover from.

Peter Windsor has revealed that he may face one ‘problem’ against teammate Charles Leclerc at Montreal, which may slow him down a little.

“The high-speed braking into the final corner chicane,” he said. “Again, you know, it’s difficult to be slow there. Maybe he’ll brake later than Charles, maybe. That’s alright, that’s where he’ll feel good. I suppose that’s the only place he could be having a problem.

“If he’s on a good lap, he might brake a fraction too late there. The thing for Lewis there would be brake a little bit earlier, come out of the brakes a bit sooner if necessary and make sure he’s got a good exit from there.”

Why Lewis Hamilton now faces a ‘critical’ turning point at Ferrari

If the season goes on as it has done so far, Hamilton may end up with doubts about himself and his team heading into the 2026 F1 regulations.

He proved at the Chinese Grand Prix that he still has an elite edge by winning the sprint race, but he needs to find that level more often in the future if he wants to win an eighth title.

Hamilton faces a ‘critical’ Ferrari turning point, according to Karun Chandhok after a poor run of recent form. He needs to find more pace on a Sunday.

Being overtaken by Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg may have been a lowlight in Barcelona, but Montreal should be a better weekend.
