Ralf Schumacher was not impressed with one Formula 1 driver during qualifying for the 2025 Bahrain Grand Prix, whilst McLaren star Oscar Piastri scored pole position.
Piastri was the only driver to post a 1:29 lap time throughout qualifying on Saturday to score his second career pole. The McLaren racer posted a 1:29.841 to deny Mercedes pilot George Russell by 0.168 seconds. Championship leader Lando Norris could only qualify down in P6.
Norris was one of multiple drivers who disappointed during qualifying for the Bahrain GP. He failed to maintain the Briton’s promise from Q1 and Q2 when it mattered most. Red Bull star Max Verstappen struggled with braking issues during qualifying in Bahrain to get P7, as well.

Ralf Schumacher claims Esteban Ocon ‘run out of talent’ with Bahrain GP qualifying crash
Esteban Ocon also stood out to Schumacher for the wrong reasons during qualifying for the Bahrain GP on Saturday. The Haas driver crashed on his first outing in Q2, on a bleak day for the American squad after his rookie teammate Oliver Bearman bowed out in Q1 in Bahrain.
Bearman wrestled his VF-25 throughout Q1 as the Briton relentlessly fought to keep his car in a straight line. Ocon then faced a wild ride when he headed out in Q2, as the Frenchman tried to correct a slide exiting Turn 2 but then straddling the kerb saw the Haas driver crash.

Ocon was powerless to prevent the spin once the 28-year-old got onto the T2 exit kerb. His spin through T3 also sent the Evreux native rearwards into the barrier, which destroyed the rear-left corner and rear wing of his Haas – and Schumacher was not impressed with Ocon.
“He’s run out of talent,” Schumacher quipped after Ocon’s crash, via quotes by F1-Insider.
Esteban Ocon penned his 160th F1 Grand Prix entry and fourth for Haas in Bahrain
Ocon advanced into Q2 during qualifying for the Bahrain GP after the Haas driver posted the 12th-fastest lap time in Q1 with a 1:31.594. He avoided the drop by 0.446s to Williams racer Alex Albon who should have made Q2 as Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg later had his lap deleted.

Hulkenberg’s demotion – despite competing in Q2 – further saw Ocon adopt P14 in the final qualifying order for the Bahrain GP, instead of P15 after failing to post any laps in the second part of the session. But Haas have a busy schedule ahead to rebuild Ocon’s car for the race.
The Bahrain GP is Ocon’s 160th Grand Prix entry, and should also turn into the Frenchman’s 160th start on Sunday plus fourth for Haas after joining from Alpine for the 2025 F1 season. He has one win which Ocon took at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix and four podiums so far.
