Liam Lawson is a candidate to replace Sergio Perez at Red Bull after putting in some impressive performances at RB.
The Kiwi competed well against his teammate Yuki Tsunoda at the Italian team and scored points at the United States Grand Prix.
Lawson competed well against Tsunoda despite being brought into the team with just six rounds to go without racing in any championship this year before stepping in at RB.
The RB driver battled well in the midfield, and Lawson didn’t shy away when confronted by Fernando Alonso at Circuit of the Americas.
RB CEO Peter Bayer is pleased with Lawson and outlined one quality in particular that highlights his potential.
Liam Lawson has the ‘unique capability’ to process information

Lawson adapted very quickly to a range of new tracks this season as he scored points in Austin and drove to an impressive ninth-place finish in Brazil.
This is a very good quality to have, as Formula 1 is unpredictable with a range of grip levels, and the car itself constantly changes with updates.
Bayer explained that Lawson is very good at absorbing new information, which helps him deliver on the track over a weekend.

He told the RB YouTube channel: “I think he’s learning a lot now in terms of feedback with the team, working with the engineers. He has this unique capability of processing information.
“Sometimes you would start off a weekend, more or less at the end, bottom end of the rankings, but he’s so steady He’s taking information. He’s taking it up like a sponge, and then he’s deploying it on track. So I really see great potential in him.”
Lawson is a candidate to replace Sergio Perez at Red Bull after the Mexican was dropped at the end of a difficult four-year stint.
Liam Lawson would need to make very few errors if he partners Max Verstappen
Verstappen has become a very difficult teammate to beat as he continues to raise his level and win championships.
The four-time world champion has set an incredibly high benchmark over the past few years as he made very few mistakes.
If Lawson gets promoted, he would need to match the Dutchman and be mentally strong, as Verstappen has dominated other teammates.
He got the better Perez while Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon floundered before returning to the midfield after short stints at Red Bull.
