Red Bull Racing have made the decision that everyone’s been waiting for after the conclusion of the 2024 Formula 1 season.
Sergio Perez has been coming under increasing pressure from Red Bull despite finishing on the podium at four of the first five races this season.
However, his form started to slip from Miami onwards, when he nearly took out his teammate Max Verstappen at the first corner.
While Verstappen continued to get the most out of a difficult-to-drive Red Bull car, Perez’s struggles only seemed to get worse.
While Red Bull apologised to Perez after not listening to his concerns, it reached the point where his confidence was completely shot.

Perez was despondent after the final race in Abu Dhabi but has faced a nervous wait ever since.
Now, it appears as though Red Bull have finally made the decision to part ways with the 34-year-old driver.
Red Bull Racing part ways with Sergio Perez after four seasons
In a post on Instagram, Perez said: “Tank [thank] you for these four years @redbullracing I wish you the best.”
A decision on who will replace Sergio Perez has yet to be announced.

However, Liam Lawson is expected to replace Perez following an impressive – albeit short – stint with RB this year.
It means Yuki Tsunoda is likely to remain in Red Bull’s second team, while Isack Hadjar could be promoted to race for RB in 2025.
Sergio Perez’s Red Bull career in numbers
Perez’s Formula 1 career began with Sauber in 2011 and he spent 10 seasons on the grid before Red Bull finally signed him off the back of a brilliant campaign with Racing Point in 2020.
The following year, Perez was crucial in helping Max Verstappen win his first Drivers’ Championship, particularly with his defensive driver to thwart Lewis Hamilton in Abu Dhabi.
He helped Red Bull win back-to-back Constructors’ titles in 2022 and 2023, scoring nearly 600 points combined across the two seasons.

However, this year, Perez managed just 152 points, finishing eighth in the championship and went on a run of 19 races without a podium finish.
Perez won on five occasions with Red Bull and at one point in 2023, he looked like he was going to mount a challenge on Verstappen’s dominance.
That never happened, but Perez still managed to achieve three pole positions and 29 podiums during his time with the team.
It’s not yet known what Perez will do next with no seats remaining on the F1 grid for 2025.
