Sergio Perez fans rage at Christian Horner after ‘unfair’ Red Bull decision at Las Vegas Grand Prix

Red Bull driver Sergio Perez has suffered a very difficult season and is under pressure to keep his seat at the Austrian team.

The Mexican driver has failed to match his teammate Max Verstappen who is competing for his fourth consecutive championship.

Perez will start the Las Vegas Grand Prix in 12th place as Red Bull have struggled for top speed at the Las Vegas Strip Circuit.

The Austrian team don’t have a very low downforce rear wing, which caused them to struggle at the Italian Grand Prix and this weekend in Las Vegas.

Verstappen dragged the Red Bull to fifth on the grid, and he has consistently been ahead of Perez over the past couple of years.

Christian Horner revealed after qualifying in Las Vegas that Red Bull made a key decision after FP3 that not everyone agreed with.

Some F1 fans have very mixed opinions on Red Bulls decision making after practice as Perez didn’t break into the top 10.

Red Bull struggled throughout practice, particularly in the final sector of the lap where the higher downforce configuration cost them time.

They don’t have a very low downforce rear wing which would have been beneficial in Sin City due to reasons surrounding the budget cap.

In response to Horner’s comments, some fans were very unhappy about Red Bull’s decision to adjust just one car ahead of qualifying.

Perez has been consistently behind Verstappen during this season but @ManUnitedEra_ tweeted that the team have been unfair on the Mexican.

They said: “So unfair to Perez.”

More fans were questioning whether Red Bull were being fair towards Perez as they only adjusted Verstappen’s car after practice.

@TheCaLiDee said: “How is that fair? Did he agree to it?”

Perez has really been struggling this season as he hasn’t scored a podium since April’s Chinese Grand Prix. The Mexican has struggled in qualifying and made small errors such as missing his grid box at the Mexico City Grand Prix.

@lennicc said Perez’s lack of form has been tricky to watch: “At this point, it’s just sad.”

Red Bull have lost the lead of the Constructors’ Championship and are floundering in third place behind McLaren and Ferrari.

@aorvone wasn’t pleased with Horner who they feel made the decision not to adjust Perez’s car despite him pushing Perez to be at the front.

They said: “And then you have Horner saying they need Checo up top if he wants to keep his seat.”

Perez is under pressure to keep his seat, and the Mexican could be replaced by Liam Lawson or Franco Colapinto, who crashed in qualifying in Las Vegas.

@AikiruFifteen isn’t enjoying being a Perez fan as the Mexican is struggling for form as a long way off his teammate.

Sergio Perez needs a good result to build some confidence

Perez is pushing to retain his seat at Red Bull alongside Verstappen for the 2025 season but has very little confidence.

He hasn’t finished in the top five since the Miami Grand Prix in May, despite having a frontrunning car over the season.

The Mexican had a brief upturn in form in Azerbaijan and was half a lap away from the podium before a crash with Carlos Sainz.

With two rounds to go after Las Vegas, Perez has little time to turn his form around mid the increasing pressure at Red Bull.
