What F1 teams do well at the Bahrain Grand Prix with Ferrari and Mercedes successful

The Bahrain Grand Prix has been on the Formula 1 calendar since 2004, having become the first race to take place in the Middle East.

The Sakhir International Circuit has played host to ten Bahrain Grands Prix over the years, having hosted two races during 2020 due to COVID-19 precautions.

Races are normally hedged around the Grand Prix circuit layout, but the ‘Oasis’ outer section was used for the Sakhir Grand Prix which featured the fastest lap in F1 history set by George Russell who set a 55.404s – the first sub-60 second fastest lap in F1’s history.

The 3.3 mile circuit has seen a range of different winners over the years, but there has been one stand-out team that has been successful.

Ferrari is the most successful Constructor at the Bahrain Grand Prix

Ferrari holds the most victories in Bahrain having won the first race in 2004 and seperately across different eras including 2008, 2010, 2017, and 2022.

Michael Schumacher won the first race from Rubens Barrichello, while Felipe Massa took their only back-to-back victories between 2007 and 2008.

Fernando Alonso won on his debut with Ferrari in 2010 after a spark plug failure denied Sebastian Vettel a win for Red Bull. They only have four victories at the circuit, having also achieved back-to-back victories in 2023 and 2024.

Mercedes first won the race in 2014 after the impressive duel between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg for the win, while Renault won back-to-back with Fernando Alonso in 2005 and 2006.

The most successful F1 power unit manufacturers at the Bahrain Grand Prix

Ferrari and Mercedes hold the join record for most wins for a power unit manufacturer in Bahrain, with Mercedes taking victories for three different teams.

In 2009 they won with Brawn GP with Jenson Button and their victory in 2020 was Racing Point’s one and only win for the Sakhir GP with Sergio Perez.

Honda are the most recent winners in 2023 and 2024 with Max Verstappen in the Red Bull, while Renault also won seperately with the Milton Keynes outfit in 2012 and 2013.
