With the Formula 1 season set to kick off in less than a month, excitement is ramping up ahead of 2025 with six new rookies and a Lewis Hamilton in red to look forward to.
Away from the track, there are some exciting moves too, with Aston Martin set to welcome headline signing Adrian Newey to the team.
The team finished fifth in the constructors’ championship after a disappointing campaign in 2025, where their development saw them pick up far fewer points than the year prior.
Both Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will have high hopes that the design genius can bring a little magic to their operation and propel them to the front of the field.
Newey has already demanded Aston Martin do not use their new wind tunnel until he arrives in a bid to have as many hours of usage possible for him to experiment with.
Ahead of his arrival, Newey is baffled by one Alonso stat which doesn’t reflect his ability. He is surprised that he has managed just two world championships.

Jan Lammers expects a ‘huge revival’ from Aston Martin in 2025
Aston Martin had one of the most exciting projects in Formula 1 after contending for race victories in 2023. It was hoped that they could reach new heights.
They failed to do so and have taken steps backwards ever since. With change required, they demoted team principal Mike Krack and replaced him with Andy Cowell.
Cowell is a renowned engine genius and was behind much of Mercedes’ power unit success in the turbo-hybrid era. He might be a top-tier appointment.

Speaking to F1 Maximaal.NL, Jan Lammers earmarked Aston Martin for a big revival under new leadership in 2025.
“I actually expect a huge revival from Aston Martin this year. Why? Because they have been working on a huge change in the past two years,” he said.
“They have a new factory and renewed everything else within the team. This was a huge job. That is distracting. I think they now have a bit more stability and peace. Newey’s input will also play a role.”
Peter Windsor thinks Adrian Newey has a ‘perfect situation’ at Aston Martin
With the 2026 F1 regulations around the corner, Newey’s focus may be on the next car from the moment he steps into the Silverstone-based outfit’s factory.
Ahead of a new partnership with Honda, they must design their chassis around a new power unit and integrate it well to ensure reliability and driveability.
Peter Windsor thinks Newey’s Aston Martin situation is perfect and that he doesn’t have to take any blame if they are poor again in 2025.

The team won’t want to settle for fifth in the constructors’ standings again. They ended the season struggling to make the top 10 at some races.
As Newey finally gets to work with Alonso for the first time in his career, the two could produce big things together in the future if their thorough plan comes together.
