Arvid Lindblad shares which F1 rookie he knows he needs to copy in 2025 ahead of ‘big task’ in F2

Arvid Lindblad has quickly become one of the hottest prospects in motorsport. The young talent is being tipped for an F1 seat in the future.

The Red Bull junior finished fourth in his rookie season in F3 last year with four wins – the most of any other driver.

In 2025, Lindblad will make the step up to F2 with Campos Racing. He will replace another Red Bull junior in Isack Hadjar – who will race with Racing Bulls in F1 this year.

Along with his F2 campaign, the 17-year-old may find himself in the world of F1 already. Lindblad recently earnied enough superlicense points to make the jump to F1 after winning the Formula Regional Oceania Championship.

Lindblad knows impressing Helmut Marko is of the ‘utmost importance’ in 2025. The Austrian is notorious for making brutal decisions on Red Bull’s drivers, so getting on his good side will be key.

But by his admission, the Brit will have a ‘big task’ as a rookie in F2 – hence why he is looking to copy one F1 rookie to achieve success.

Arvid Lindblad looking to copy Gabriel Bortoleto in F2 in 2025

Gabriel Bortoleto won the F2 title as a rookie last season. The Brazilian beat Hadjar to the crown after the Frenchman suffered a mechanical failure in Abu Dhabi.

Bortoleto won the F3 title the year prior – also as a rookie. The 20-year-old will race with Sauber in 2025 alongside Nico Hulkenberg.

Joining the likes of Oscar Piastri, Charles Leclerc and George Russell to have won F3 and F2 consecutively as a rookie, Bortoleto is a rising star in motorsport Speaking with the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Lindblad is looking to replicate the Brazilian’s success.

“I mean this year in F3, I knew it was going to be very challenging. I think almost no one does one year of F4 and then goes straight to F3 and be competitive in the first year”, he said.

“I knew it was going to be a tall order and a big task. But I just gave it my best and just worked really hard and we were able to do a really good season.

“And obviously coming into F2 it’s an even bigger task. I mean we saw this year with Bortoleto that you can do well as a rookie.

“Obviously I can’t get complacent, but if I work hard and keep to the same work ethic and stuff, I think I can do very well”.

Could Arvid Lindblad be on the F1 grid as early as 2025?

There is huge optimism about the 17-year-old sensation and what he could achieve in the next few years. Lindblad is generating as much excitement as Max Verstappen and the Brit could be the next to accomplish greatness with Red Bull.

Marko thinks Lindblad can be a world champion, although it may be too early to judge given he has not even made his F2 debut yet. But the 17-year-old may not be in the junior category for very long.

Red Bull are urgently training Lindblad to prepare him for the possibility he could be called upon to race in F1. The Brit is set to serve as the reserve driver for both Red Bull and Racing Bulls.

The fact Lindblad already has enough superlicense points highlights Red Bull are looking to get him onto the grid by 2026. But an earlier move must not be ruled out.

The Milton Keynes-based outfit have made several driver changes mid-season over the years. If one of Yuki Tsunoda or Hadjar fails to perform, it could open the door for an early F1 debut for Lindblad.
