Unlike the fake marina at the Miami Grand Prix circuit, Cadillac is planning to make a splash at this weekend’s Grand Prix as fans expect the American brand to reveal its livery ahead of its entry to the sport in 2026.
The team promises a first look at its brand – a reveal fans expect will feature its livery ahead of next year’s grid entry – at a special event on Saturday, 3 May. This will include a red carpet, featuring not only team principal Graeme Lowdon and team CEO Dan Towriss, but also Hollywood A-listers who will be there to share the celebrations.
Expected to be the “cultural centrepiece” of the race weekend, the Cadillac Club will see the celebrations unfold.
While details currently remain limited, the hype surrounding the reveal is palpable as fans look forward to absorbing everything F1’s new team has to offer.
Cadillac’s route into the sport has been anything but straightforward. The project originally launched under the Andretti brand, with backing from General Motors. But despite receiving approval from the FIA in late 2023, Formula One Management denied the project, arguing that it wouldn’t bring value to the sport.

There was a restructuring at the team following this rejection as Michael Andretti stepped back from his leadership role and instead, Dan Towriss took his place.
“I will be serving as an advisor for the team and will be available to help wherever I can,” Andretti said at the time.
Under Towriss’ guidance, General Motors took on more of a role and the project was accepted into the sport as its 11th team under the Cadillac branding. Of course, this wasn’t without an eye-watering anti-dilution fee of a reported $450 million.
Going into this humid race weekend, there are several questions left unanswered regarding the future of the team – the main question being who will drive for them. Former Red Bull driver Sergio Perez and three-time IndyCar champion Alex Palou have both been connected to the outfit. And while there have been no official words on the matter, Mario Andretti has admitted that the Mexican driver “is an option,” via the ESPN podcast.
“He could be an option. Of course, he could be an option.
“All I can say is that Liam Lawson is making Checo [Perez] look very, very good.”
Palou, on the other hand, has all-but ruled out the Cadillac seat, telling Soy Motor: “I think we’ve perhaps already passed the stage of trying to get a spot in Formula 1. Things didn’t go well. I think I’m at a point now where it’s too late.”
