Charles Leclerc warned he’ll see one big change in Lewis Hamilton that could trigger Ferrari ‘fireworks’

One of the main storylines of the 2025 Formula 1 season will be Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari, as fans anticipate how the seven-time world champion will perform at one of the sport’s most successful teams.

Hamilton switched to the Maranello-based squad after 12 years at Mercedes, winning six Drivers’ Championships and etching his name in the F1 history books as one of the all-time great drivers.

Now he is looking to add to that legacy with an eighth world title, having narrowly missed out in 2021 due to a controversial end to the season in Abu Dhabi.

There is a lot of anticipation over the Briton’s move, with Ferrari having denied rumours around Hamilton’s upcoming test at their Fiorano test track.

Discussing what to expect in their first year with RacingNews365.nl, Tim Coronel believes there is one thing that he can ‘guarantee’ F1 fans will see from Hamilton.

Tim Coronel expects ‘fireworks’ from Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari

Hamilton will go up against Charles Leclerc at Ferrari, with the Monogasque being one of Ferrari’s proteges having supported him throughout his junior career.

Leclerc is known for being a one-lap specialist in F1 and several have tipped him to beat Hamilton, including Peter Windsor who thinks the Monogasque has a better chance of winning the 2025 title.

Coronel expects Ferrari to be one of the most exciting teams of the year, given their driver lineup is the strongest on the grid.

“He closed it with style. You are seven-time world champion for a reason and maybe he had a little less motivation. But I think he’s going to find fire again at Ferrari,” said Coronel.

“If you see fire in Hamilton, you see him doing beautiful things. We also saw that in the last race. I expect a lot of fireworks and I guarantee it to you!”

Lewis Hamilton might surprise everyone with 2025 title success

It should be no surprise that a seven-time F1 world champion faces the prospect of claiming an eighth, especially if the car is suited to his needs.

But the last three seasons have taken a toll on Hamilton’s motivation, after being effectively ignored by Mercedes on which direction to take their car.

Mercedes had to track back to fix their car problems, which frustrated Hamilton as rivals Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren produced faster cars.

It will be the first time Hamilton has stepped outside of an all-English-speaking environment, and it is also the first non-Mercedes-powered car that he will drive in his F1 career.

As Hamilton attempts to become the first F1 world champion at 40 years old since Jack Brabham, his Ferrari drive is set to be one the year’s biggest sporting stories.
