F1 fan creates Red Bull Japanese GP merch mockup inspired by LA Dodgers

A Formula 1 fan has reimagined Red Bull Racing merchandise ahead of the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix, taking inspiration from the American baseball team, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The design features “Red Bull” written in Japanese lettering, similar to designs adopted by the LA Dodgers team, within two bold red lines. The rest of the t-shirt retains the typical design of the Milton Keynes outfit. The post has been showered with praise from others within the F1 Reddit community. One commenter noted, “I would consider purchasing one if they truly went ahead with it.”

The Los Angeles Dodgers have included Japanese writing in their merchandise, notably since the high-profile signings of Japanese baseball stars Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and the team has seen a huge amount of popularity in the products with many of them becoming bestsellers.

Red Bull has already incorporated a similar design for the Japanese Grand Prix caps. However, it is yet to be seen if they will introduce this for the t-shirts and tops. The 2025 race at the Suzuka Circuit is important for the Austrian team with it being its last with long-time engine partner Honda.

Honda will leave Red Bull at the end of 2025 to join Aston Martin. This coincides with Red Bull producing its own powertrains in partnership with Ford.

The Milton Keynes squad announced this morning that Yuki Tsunoda would be replacing rookie Liam Lawson at the team from the Japanese Grand Prix after struggling to get to grips with the RB21 in the first two Grand Prix weekends of the 2025 season. As the Japanese driver heads into his home race with Red Bull, it seems like the perfect opportunity for the team to adopt a similar design to the fan-proposed concept.

Explaining the changes, Red Bull team chief Christian Horner claimed that it was purely a “sporting decision.”

“It has been difficult to see Liam struggle with the RB21 at the first two races and as a result we have collectively taken the decision to make an early switch. We came into the 2025 season, with two ambitions, to retain the World Drivers’ Championship and to reclaim the World Constructors’ title and this is a purely sporting decision.

“We acknowledge there is a lot of work to be done with the RB21 and Yuki’s experience will prove highly beneficial in helping to develop the current car. We welcome him to the Team and are looking forward to seeing him behind the wheel of the RB21.

“We have a duty of care to protect and develop Liam and together, we see that after such a difficult start, it makes sense to act quickly so Liam can gain experience, as he continues his F1 career with Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, an environment and a Team he knows very well.”
