Fred Vasseur is now under pressure to turn around Ferrari’s disappointing season, as the next three rounds in Canada, Austria and Great Britain will be vital for his future.
Montreal has welcomed the pinnacle of motorsport back to the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve this weekend for round 10 of the 2025 F1 season. No team has ever won the Canadian GP in the race’s all-time history as often as Ferrari, who boast 14 wins in the Great White North so far.
Ferrari have not won the Canadian GP since Sebastian Vettel was victorious for them back in 2018. The Scuderia are also still yet to win a Grand Prix this year, with Charles Leclerc taking their only rostrum finishes this season with P2 in Monaco plus P3 in Saudi Arabia and Spain.
Results have been far from what Ferrari expected ahead of the campaign, having finished 14 points away from winning the F1 constructors’ championship for the first time since 2008 in 2024. The Maranello squad may sit second in 2025, but already trail McLaren by 197 points.

Ferrari have now given Fred Vasseur three rounds to prove he can improve their form
So, Gazzetta dello Sport now reports that the next three rounds ‘will be decisive’ in Ferrari’s decision to retain Vasseur or let him leave. The Frenchman will be out of contract at the end of the year, but results and various other factors have amplified the pressure on his position.

Scuderia chiefs still reel at the ‘embarrassment’ of Ferrari’s first-ever double disqualification at the 2025 Chinese GP this March. There is also tension mounting from the difficulties that Lewis Hamilton has had adapting to the SF-25 since joining Ferrari from Mercedes this year.
Add in their lack of results compared to McLaren plus Red Bull through Max Verstappen, so Ferrari want Vasseur to show he can mend the situation in view of the 2026 F1 regulations. The Scuderia feel it is now ‘essential’ that Vasseur proves he can get them nearer McLaren.
So, Vasseur will need Leclerc and Hamilton to scoop big results at the Canadian GP and then at the Austrian Grand Prix on June 27-29 and the British Grand Prix on July 4-6. If not, then the Frenchman could be shown the door as Ferrari are not happy with Vasseur this season.
Ferrari have ‘accused’ Fred Vasseur of not understanding the situation at the F1 team
A report from Corriere della Sera also claims that Ferrari have now ‘accused’ Vasseur of not fully understanding the situation in Maranello. The Scuderia want the 57-year-old to answer for the team’s unsatisfactory form, as well as the ‘crisis’ that Hamilton now finds himself in.
Additionally, the lack of trust in Vasseur is not only coming from the very top of the Ferrari hierarchy anymore. Leclerc is considering his future at Ferrari for the first time, despite the Monegasque’s contract to 2029, as he fears being stuck with an uncompetitive car in 2026.

Ferrari have even started to line up replacements for Vasseur, with the Scuderia identifying the leader of their World Endurance Championship (WEC) team Antonello Coletta and Red Bull F1 team principal Christian Horner as the Italian giant’s two top targets to take charge.
Red Bull boss Horner is Ferrari chairman John Elkann’s ‘obsession’, but Vasseur’s departure would re-open a door for Coletta that the Roman has already closed once. Coletta rejected an offer to join Ferrari’s F1 team as he is aware of the differences between F1 and the WEC.
