Max Verstappen names his ‘ultimate goal’ in F1 after winning his fourth world championship

Max Verstappen secured his fourth Formula 1 World Championship in Las Vegas, having outscored his title rival Lando Norris.

The Dutchman won the title with two races to spare in 2024, having effectively put one hand on the trophy with his stunning victory in the Sao Paulo GP rain.

Verstappen won seven of the first 10 races this season but suffered a 10-race win drought between his Spanish and Sao Paulo victories, as Red Bull slipped behind McLaren and Ferrari on track.

With consistent podiums, Norris making mistakes, and only dropping out of the top five twice at the Italian and Mexican Grands Prix, Verstappen still held a 62-point advantage heading into the Las Vegas race.

Even though Red Bull started the weekend on the back foot, the Dutchman out-qualified Norris and finished ahead at the chequered flag. It secured his fourth title in a row, with him now sitting behind just Michael Schumacher (7), Juan Manuel Fangio (5) and Lewis Hamilton (7), on F1 titles.

Discussing his year in an interview with F1 TV, Verstappen named what his ‘ultimate goal’ would be in the future.

Max Verstappen names eighth title ‘ultimate goal’ in Formula 1

Verstappen has racked up impressive records since beginning his run of titles in 2021, having achieved 10 successive victories at the wheel of the RB19.

It is a remarkable achievement for someone who is just 27 years old, who is showing no signs of stopping any time soon. Verstappen named what his ultimate goal would be, although made the caveat that he would like to experience life outside of F1 at some stage.

“The ultimate goal, can you win eight titles? That would be amazing, but it’s not really necessary. There are so many more things I want to do in life and also just have a bit of fun, catch up with my family,” said Verstappen.

“Because I know, nowadays my Mum and Dad will call and I say ‘I’m busy’ and call back later, but there will be a day where they will not be there any more. And in these moments it makes me realise that it’s not all about racing and F1.”

Max Verstappen has scored 85 per-cent of Red Bull points since the summer break

The intra-team battle at Red Bull has been one-sided this year, with Verstappen outclassing Sergio Perez who has only scored three podiums this year.

What is impressive is the sheer amount of points that Verstappen has added to Red Bull’s total since the summer break compared to Perez, with the Dutchman scoring 85 per cent of their total.

Driver Points since F1 Summer break
Max Verstappen 126
Sergio Perez 20

Perez is under contract next season, with the deal supposed to help alleviate some pressure on the Mexican but it has had the opposite effect.

Danica Patrick believes Red Bull must drop Perez, after the Mexican failed to finish on the podium since the Sprint race in Miami.
