Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher has become a grandfather as his daughter, Gina, has welcomed her first child with husband Iain Bethke.
The couple tied the knot in September 2024 at the Schumacher family villa in Majorca, Spain. Reports at the time claimed that the F1 icon was present at the wedding, however, this has not been confirmed.
Announcing the heartwarming news to social media, Gina and Iain wrote: “Welcome to the world, Millie. Born on March 29th, our hearts are fuller than ever. We are beyond blessed to have you in our lives. “
Friends and family members, including Gina’s brother and former F1 driver Mick, have shared their well-wishes with the couple. Mick shared the news on his Instagram story, with the caption, “Proud of you.”
Four-time champion Max Verstappen’s mother, Sophie Kumpen, also shared her congratulations.
After a long and incredibly successful career in F1, Michael Schumacher decided to retire at the end of the 2012 season, making way for Lewis Hamilton to join Mercedes. The German driver has not been seen publicly since a skiing accident in December 2013, which left him in an induced coma until the following summer and with life-changing long-term injuries.
The Schumacher family has, understandably, remained extremely private since the accident.

The family has also recently been the victim of a blackmail plot, which saw three men convicted in February 2025. The trio were involved in a threat to upload 900 personal photos, almost 600 videos, and confidential medical records of Schumacher to the dark web unless the family paid £12 million.
Thilo Damm, who is the Schumacher family lawyer, stated at the time of the sentencing that they felt the punishments were not strong enough for the crimes committed:
“We do not agree with everything the court said. You can rest assured that we will exhaust all legal possibilities at our disposal,” he said.
